Anya sat in the kitchen with her black messenger bag next to her. She had a piece of light blue material stretched over a ring and was currently sewing a set of white clouds onto it. She had already sewn a cat into it, and was just finishing up the background before she put the words onto it. It was a gift for Kat, a girl she had met that was a complete oddball. A small plain white doll was sitting next to her, helping her get her string and such.

"What is she doing?"
"Sewing I think. How weird."
"Indeed. And look at the doll."
"Ah, its moving. Thats interesting."
"She could put it to better use that sewing. Bleh, sewing."
Two identical boys had entered the room, peering down at the girl with a look of disdain. The sneered, turning away and looking at each other. "What an odd looking girl." they said in unision, chuckling softly.

Anya looked up when the two boys entered and started talking about her. She didn't mind a bit, and smiled at them nicely. She put the sewing in her lap and pulled a Raggedy Ann doll out of her bag. She sat it in her open palm and it glowed silver slightly before she sat it on her knee. "Hello." The doll said in a rough voice.

The one on the right made a face. "Eww... it talked..." He said, wrapping his arms around the other boy and resting his chin on the other's shoulder. "Ech... how creepy."
The other boy wrapped his arms around the waist of the first. "It is creepy. Creepy doll."

"Anya can't talk, and most here don't know sign, so I'm really her only option on communicating with others." The doll said, looking up at Anya. Anya just kept smiling, she thought the two boys were funny.

"What, is she stupid or something?" One boy said. The other chuckled, "Cal, be nice." He said, threading his fingers through the other's hair. "Why should I?" The first boy, Caliban, replied. The other boy shrugged, "Because making fun of handicapped people, though fun, is not nice to do to their face, brother."

"No, her vocal chords are underdeveloped, and she can't talk very loud or for long before it hurts her." The doll replied. Anya's smiled faded a bit. She knew everyone wasn't nice, but she thought at least most people pretended to be when meeting someone new.

"Aww, see? You made the poor retard sad. Apologise." The first boy said. Caliban pouted. "But Fabiaaann..." Fabian looked up at his brother sternly.
/Do it or you're sleeping alone tonight./ Fabian sent his brother the mental message. Caliban sighed. /Fine./
"Sorry."

Anya just nodded and was about to make the doll say something when he attention was drawn to the door. A small girl with emerald cat ears, emerald hair, and and emerald cat tail walked in on all fours, singing randomly about fish loud enough for it to be heard in the room. Kat walked in, not a care in the world. She was getting hungry, and wanted some fish, so she came to the kitchen to get some. She didn't realize anyone was in the room, because she had her eyes closed singing about fish. When she did realize that there were others in the room, her eyes snapped open and she stopped singing. "Oh. Hello there." She said to the twins. "Hey Anya. How's that picture comming along?" She asked the golden hair girl. She stood up and went to the cabinet, and pulled down a can of tuna before turning to the twins again. "My name's Kat. I don't think we've met before." She said, tossing the can of tuna in her hands.

The twins watched the girl with semi-disgusted expressions.
"Eww... the green cat girl is talking to us..."
"I know..." Fabian said, squeezing his brother's shoulders again, "Maybe if we ignore her, she'll go away."

Kat glared at the two boys. "You two are weird." She said, shaking her head. She grabbed a fork to eat her tuna with and left. "See ya around Anya!" She said over her should as she left. Anya just shook her head with a smile. She was incredibly strange.

Balin was walking down the hallways towards the kitchen/living room. The place he had met the first nice person he had seen since he had arrived. As he walked through the halls, he saw the dent he had put in the wall on the way down last time. A sigh escaping his lips as he thought about that girl that had annoyed him so, infuriated him even.
He arrived at the Kitchen, finally. Finding Kat just leaving the room with tuna, he chuckled a little. And what have we here? Twins? This ought to be good. And then a girl sitting in a chair with...a Raggedy Ann doll!?!? Balin had watched a movie with Raggedy Ann and Andy when he was little, plus his mother had collected small figurines and such with the duo on them.
He walked closer to the three that remained. He reached towards the fridge, opening it and getting the jug of milk. Taking it to the counter, grabbing a glass from the cupboards, and filling the glass with milk. He replaced the milk and grabbed his glass, turning to face the three, and leaning against the counter with his elbow on the surface. "Interesting doll you have there." He said, pointing at the doll with his hand that had been placed on the counter, and then running his hand through his snow white hair, carefully avoiding the yellow goggles that lay on his brow.

Anya watched the new person in interest, taking her attention off of the "weird" twins. When he spoke to her she smiled and looked at the doll. "Anya says thank you. She's Anya." The doll waved a hand to the silent girl before continueing. "She's mute, and uses me to talk for her." The doll finished in its raspy voice, quite unlike Anya's soft breezelike voice.

Fabian nustled his face into his brother's neck. "This is boring." He whined, as Caliban pulled him closer. "This whole house. Its bo..."He let his voice drift off as his brother lifted his chin.
Caliban chuckled, stroking his brother's hair as he sent him a mental message.
/We could always make it more interesting./
He said telepathically as he leaned forward and pecked his twin on the lips.

Balin's eyes looked at the doll in slight surprise, smiling as he understood. "I see," He said, setting his glass down to outstretch it to the doll, and then his other hand to Anya. "I'm Balin, or 'Martial', 'tis nice to meet the both of ya."
He also overheard the twins' statement, he didn't like the look of bored twins. He'd been friends of twins back in Texas, and knew that bored twins were infamous for causing mischief.

Anya nodded at Balin before hearing one of the twins' statement. That didn't sound too good in Anya's opinion. She liked the relative quiet of the mansion, but maybe that's because she's shy and quiet. She didn't want to make enemy's of the twins or even Balin, so she decided to keep her opinion's to herself and went back to stitching after setting the doll on her knee.

Balin picked up his glass once more, taking another drink from it, leaving it half-empty. "What are ya makin'?" Balin asked Anya, pointing with a quizzical look on his face at the unidentifiable object that she was currently stitching.

Anya looked up at him and showed him. She had a 4-inch ring stretching the top corner of the baby blue fabric, so it wasn't in the way too much. It had a picture of a cat in the center of it playing with a ball of green string with a few white clouds around it. The cat is brown, but has emerald eyes and emerald on the tips of it's ears and tail. She was finishing up the last cloud when the twins walked in, and only a small patch of blue can be seen in the middle of the ring. "Anya's making it for Kat, the girl that walked out as you came in." The Raggedy Ann doll said as Anya held it up for Balin to see. She wouldn't be finished when she finished the cloud, she planned on fixing the thread to make the yarn ball feel like yarn, the cat's fur to feel like fur, and the clouds to be barely there, in addition to the words she was going to add to it.

"Wow," Balin said with a surprised look on his face, "I'm sure Kat will like it." He remembered the time he spent with Kat, she was an interesting person, one of the nicest here, too. He picked up his glass once more, finishing it off and setting his glass in the sink. He turned back to Anya and the awesome talking doll, "Where'd you learn to sew like that?" He asked her directly, then looked at the doll, awaiting the answer that would surely com from it's mouth.

"Anya learned most of it from her mother before she moved here, and some of it from experimenting or watching shows on television, or by reading books." The doll replied as Anya started to stitch the rest of it. She finished the cloud in a minute, and looked at the small plain white doll standing on the table in the middle of her sewing stuff. The little doll picked up a pair of sissors and walked to Anya with them. She picked them up and snipped off the remaining thread and tied the end off before removing the hoop and smoothing out the material. The plain doll picked up the hoop as Anya sat it down and returned it to its place with the others before going back to the sissors and replacing them to their proper place. She admired it for a few seconds, trying to figure out what to write on it. "Do you have any ideas about what it should say?" The doll asked Balin.
