Balin watched in little surprise as the other doll came to life. 'Cool,' He thought, "That'd be a cool power, animating dolls.' Balin then looked at the Raggedy Ann doll, tilting his head to the side, looking up and rubbing his chin thoughtfully. "This is a present to Kat?" He asked, looking back at the doll.

"In a way, yes. Anya was inspired to create the design after seeing Kat pour over some books in the way a cat plays with a ball of string. Kat's see it many times since she started, just to see how it looked." The Raggedy Ann doll replied as Anya looked over her supplies with a slight frown on her face. She was looking for something that had been in a kit that came with her sewing machine, but it seems like wasn't there. She picked up the plain white doll and stood it in the palm of her hand. It glowed bright silver as she gave it enough power to go to her dorm and grab the kit, which was sitting on the floor next to her bed along with her sewing machine. She then sat the doll down on the floor and it walked out the door.

"Well," Balin said, listening to the monologue the doll spouted off, "The only thing I can think of right now is this." He said, looking forwards and away from anya, moving his hands to make an imaginary line, clearing his throat, "If we were all so innocent." he stated, looking back at Anya to see her place a doll on the ground, which immediately walked off and out the door. "Or, something like that." He said once more, giving an indifferent shrug, and leaning against the counter again.

Anya smiled at Balin. He was an interesting character to her. She waited on the doll to return with her tools. When the doll returned, it was dragging the small white box that fit into the sewing machine she had, which in retrospect probably looked very odd traveling from her room to the kitchen. She picked up the doll and the kit when it reached her feet and sat them both on the table. She opened the box and pulled out an inch-long piece of silver equipement that looked like a sort of two ended fork, but one side was longer. She used the small tips to pick at the threads on the cat, to give it the feel of fur.

Balin watched Anya as she used a technique to add texture to the Cat on the center of the masterpiece. He shook his head in disbelief, "I'd never be able to do that." He said sadly, to nobody in particular, "Nor do I want to. Takes patience and handiwork, nothing I'm associated with much." He stated, grinning.

"It isn't that hard to cross stitch, it doesn't even take much patience. Just a little counting and measuring." The doll said as Anya quickly finished texturing the cat. She put the tool back in the box and picked up another one, this one a three pronged fork that was only 2 inches long in all, and started to do the same thing to the clouds as the cat, but instead of using one prong, she used all three, to make it fluffier.

"Well," Balin said, accepting the doll's argument, "I just couldn't find myself sewing anyway." He found a chair on the other side of the table, moved it to his position, and sat himself down. Of course, he wasn't back at the counters, just a foot away or so away so that he could still talk to Anya's Raggedy Anne doll.

Anya watched Balin out of the corner of her eyes as she textured the clouds. She finished one and looked at it. It looked alright to her, and after feeling it, decided it could use some finishing, so she went back to texturing the cloud.

Balin watched in fascination as Anya continued sewing, texturing, doing whatever it was called. He hadn't seen anybody this cool since...when? Since he had left Texas at least. But that was only a few weeks or so ago. One of his old friends, she was more of just a friend than anything, but she was one of the best he had.
He seemed to space out staring at the blanket, thinking and reminiscing of Texas.

Anya continued to work on the cloud, making it as light and fluffy as a real one looks. She put it down when she was almost finished and got up and grabbed a snack from a cabinet nearby. "So Balin, where are you from? I haven't heard Kat talk about you much, except that you love Dance Dance." The doll asked Balin from its place on the table.

Balin's ears perked up as he heard talk of Kat. She had been talking about him, and his love for DDR. 'At least she's talking about me...' He thought as he gave his reply, "I'm from Texas, yea, me and Kat had a good bit of fun at the mall, and I realized not long ago that it may have seemed like a date...I'm not sure if she thought of it that way though..." He said, rubbing the back of his head a little out of slight embarrasment.

"She most likely didn't. She's very naive, and doesn't realize that some of the things she does could be considered flirting." Anya smiled as she sat down at the table again and ate the snack quickly.

"Ah," He nodded in understanding, "I like her though, she's really a nice girl." He said, looking about the room, "I just don't know what she thinks of me...unfortunately that's not my power." He said with a grin. "What exactly is your power, animation?" He asked her with a quizzical look.

Anya nodded at Balin's question and her reply came from the doll. "Animation is the best way to describe it. She can manipulate the doll by manipulating her own energy from within the doll." The doll explained while Anya looked over her stitching.

"So it's like putting a set action into the doll straight from your mind? Kinda sorta?" He asked, again with the quizzical look. "That's a fairly interesting power to have. Mine requires a lot of concentration at first." He said, comparing the two a little.

"Exactly like that." The doll replied to his first statement. "But the farther away they get, the harder it is for me to control them. I put the engery into the doll, then tell it what to do in my head." The doll said as if Anya was actually saying it. Anya realized this a few moments later. "Anya says sorry. She usually has me talking like it was actually me talking for her, instead of her actually talking, if that makes any sense."

Balin listened at the further explanation and the apology. "It's fine," He started with a slight grin on his face, "I mess up my powers occasionally too." He said, pausing as he looked for another question, then looked at the Raggedy Ann doll, "Why did you pick a Raggedy Ann doll, by the way? It's funny, I always loved the Adventures of Raggedy Ann and Andy when I was a little kid." He said, looking at Anya with a smile.

"Before we moved here, Anya wanted to talk to her brother but didn't feel like signing everything, and she was going to have me write to him, but instead I spoke for her. She's tried doing the same thing with her other dolls, but it just won't work." Anya shrugged at the end. "I was her first doll she ever made."

"Ah," He said in understanding, "Did you consider making a Raggedy Andy too?" He asked, trying not to be intrusive or anything. "That'd be even more interesting." He said with a slight chuckle, imagining the possibilities of animating the duo. He thought about the movie that he had seen as a child, remembering slight glimpses here and there.

Anya laughed silently, which probably looked odd. "Anya actually had a Raggedy Andy, but either she forgot him when she packed to move here, or he got lost on the way." The doll said for Anya. "She's thought about remaking him, but it wouldn't be the same as her original, which her mother made her."
