Kirk soon arrived at Xavier's from the airport, tired and worn out from the flight from Scotland. His bright blue eyes gazed around his surroundings: from the mansion. to the pools, and most of all, the people. This was his new home now, so he better get use to it. Kirk continued walking towards the mansion door knowing soon enough someone would help him out...

Midnight was standing on the wall around the grounds of the mansion. Darkness had formed around her arms in the shape of huge black wings and she was frowning as she kept playing with it. No matter what she seemed to do, the darkness would not hold the wind. Oh how she wished it would! To fly was the gift she most desired, but still elusive beyond her grasp. Then Midnight saw something out of the corner of her eye... a young man was walking up the path to the mansion and she was in plain sight. With a blush, the darkness floating around her arms was sucked back into her skin and she hopped lightly off the wall, landing in a crouch. However, she didn't yet approach him: she was naturally suspicious.

Kirk look towards the wall and saw a shadowy figure and realized this was the person he was to talk to from his past vision. He turned toward the shadow and gave a slight, curteous bow and spoke in his thick scottish accent, "Hi. I'm new here. My name is McKay. Any chance you can help me?"

When he started to approach her, Midnight dropped her eyes to hide them. Then, almost fiercely, she brought them up again. She had nothing to hide from. Her red irises in black eyes met his blue ones. She bit her lip uncertainly as he gave a bow and then returned it with some semblence of a cursty. "I'm Midnight. I don't know if I can help you, but I guess I could try," she replied to his inquiry. Him being a foreigner made her even more nervous and she shoved her hands in her pockets. "What do you need? This is the Xavier School for Gifted Youngsters..."

Looking into her eyes, he found they weren't trusting. But, as his father always said, 'Trust, like many other things, takes time'
"I know. I just need to know who I'm supposed to see to get to show me my room. I also don't know my way aroud here so it would be nice to have a tour guide," he replied a little jokingly, "So, what's your name?"
He walked fairly slowly, meeting up with her and yet still going towards the doorway, hoping she did't think of him as a complete idiot.

"I'm Midnight," she said again, a slight scowl coming over her face. She didn't tell anyone her name, and even so, she knew at least four people who knew it. She stopped calling herself Marie when the darkness started leaking out of her fingers. She knew that day that she was not the girl she used to be.
"You a mutant?" she asked bluntly, falling in beside him as he continued to walk toward the door. It was probably a stupid question: of course he was a mutant if he was getting a room here. But she personally wanted to know what his powers were. It was more defining to someone at this time than their name or even their appearances were. That was harsh, but that was the way it worked. Most people she thought of in terms of powers: that one was a telepath or that one could siphon powers. A few close friends she thought of as people and with Jasper Jones, she rarely thought of his power because it didn't define him so much as he defined it.
"I guess I could help you find a room. We have enough empty ones that you won't need a roommate unless you want one."

"Aye, I'm a mutant," he replied, not really wanting to say more on the subject, he continued, "I can tell the future and can draw energy from around me to manipulate water and earth. Why do you ask?"
Reaching the door he held it open for her to go by.

Midnight passed him and went in. "I ask because mutants are defined by their mutation to both humans and mutants alike. Your mutant abilities tell me far more about you than the name McKay," she declared, waiting for him just inside the doorway. The sunlight outside made the inside seem almost dark, but her eyes seemed to burst into flame as they adjusted for seeing in the dark.

"Wooooo, we're going streaking!" Ellen yelled flying out of the door that was being open, "Everyone down to the pond, we're going skinny-dipping!" she laughed wearing only a towel.

"Ellen!" Midnight hissed, glaring at the girl in the towel as she flew past her. "New person!" Midnight wasn't the kind of person who would streak or skinny-dip, and she was pretty sure this wasn't what the Professor would approve of.

"I see," Kirk replied as he watched the girl going by, startled by her and what she just said. He turned his head toward Midnight as he shut the door, "Is she serious?"

"Serious? Ellen? Never," Midnight replied with a small, hidden smile. "But actually going to go skinny-dipping? I'm just glad she decided to streak after she got out of the house instead of before. It isn't something we should go showing new people." But in a way, Ellen running by with only a towl on had put Midnight in a slightly better mood. Ellen didn't take life to seriously, or so it seemed.
"This is the lobby," Midnight took in the large entrance in one sweep of the hand. "Any questions so far?"

"As serious as anything, hun," Ellen said pushing Kirk up against the nearby wall of the building and grinning as their faces were two inches apart and she looked directly into his eyes, "What's wrong? We're all X-Men here, and we're all about taking a few risks."

"You're going to scare him," Midnight said, half-crossly. "It isn't like he is from France or anything. And we are trying to get mutants to come here, not run away in fear and make way for all the perverts." Midnight didn't actually know Ellen, but she had heard something of her reputation. She wondered if Ellen had heard anything about her.

"I think I'll save my risktaking until after I make my first impressions," he replied in an unusually calm voice, arching his left eyebrow.
He tried to move out of her way as he looked toward Midnight, "She doesn't scare me. Being a mutant has taught me one thing 'Always expect the unexpected' even though I didn't see that coming."

"He's silly, he doesn't know about my super strength," Ellen said leaning heavily on Kirk still looking into his eyes, "Besides if he was from France he would have surrendered by now, anyone knows that."

"You can't always expect the unexpected or else it wouldn't be unexpected," Midnight retorted, but she was about to give up and let Ellen mess with the young man's mind. "And I wasn't thinking about the French military," Midnight said to Ellen. "I was thinking more about the nude beaches... or was that Germany? Both, maybe."
Then Midnight sat down and started to pull off her shoes. "I might as well go with you, Ellen," she started to say, but stopped undressing and eyed McKay. "After he is gone or I get in the water, that is." She pulled a leather strap off of her left wrist, revealing a tattoo that said X-24.

" As you probably know I'm Scottish, and we scots never surender-" he said as he was cut off as his powers began to take over. His deep blue eyes turned into neon-like blue orbs as he saw them skinny-dipping in the pond as Ellen said.
Then Kirk had the uncontrolable urge to laugh. He tried to hold it back the best he could, but then laughed and chucled for a minute straight. If it wasn't for Ellen holding him up he would have fallen to the floor with exaustion.

Midnight was about to quote something about Scots from the Simpsons when McKay started to laugh. Frowning, she stood up barefooted on the grass and demanded, "What are you laughing about?" Remembering his powers, she asked, "It isn't a vision is it? You had better not be looking at us..."

"I apologize," druid replied in an almost breathless voice, "It was a vision, but nothing that important. Sometimes they come on to me. I don't always have control on when they come. Though, I have to admit, it was one of the nicer vision I've ever had."
He look toward Midnight seeing how she would react with that comment.
