Alana sat in the kitchen at a counter with a glass of water in front of her, and her cellphone in her hand. she was tired but yet she couldn't really sleep last night because she was thinking. She took a sip of her water. She stared at her cellphone. She was worried about her parents, and she wanted to make sure she was alright. After talking with maria, she said things were alright but she had to make sure. She set her glass down on the ground. she dialed the number and she heard the ring. She hoped they were home.
"Hello, Mrs. Sanches speaking?"
"hey mamá, it's alana?"
"Alana como estás? tú tener no llamada hogar en la mientras she said."
"mamá....mamá...please don't speak so fast in spanish, it's hard to understand."
"i'm sorry miel, but how have you been? she asked is everything alright? did you make any new friends their?"
"I'm doing okay mamá, everythings alright. I've met a couple people, and all. is everything okay their?"
"good to hear miel, everythings good, your father is working as usual, and me i'm just doing what i can when i can work and doing things around the house, she said it feels quiet without you around."
"Well i'm glad your okay mamá."
"Miel we're you worried about me and your father she asked?"
"well kind of."
"honey what have i told you, your their and were here, were okay you don't have to worry about us, were not going anywhere she said understand."
"yes mamá."
"okay honey i got to go okay...she said Call me later alright."
"okay tell papá i said hi."
"okay bye she said."
Alana heard a click and she ended her phone call, she sighed heavily. she knew she had no reason to worry about her parents, but then again she did. She set her cellphone down on the table and took a drink from her glass.

Angie walked into the Kitchen after getting her stuff put away in her room. She had just gotten back from her long break from the Institute. She smirked slightly at that. Jen and her always referred to it has their "break" or their "vacation" but in reality their parents had practically forced them to leave. They thought it was too dangerous here and maybe it was but Angie and her sister felt up to the challenge. They really liked the institute and missed it while they were away.
After walking in she saw a girl sitting at the counter drinking some water. That's what Angie was looking forward to. Well, maybe not water but she was pretty thirsty after the plane trip.
"Hi," Angie said in a friendly manner. "I'm Angie." She quickly grabbed a Gatorade out of the fridge then turned back to Alana with a small smile. She was always happy to meet new people and while she had met many the first time she came to the Institute she only really became good friends with one... and he was a difficult guy to get along with. She hoped that she could make some more friends this time because she was always happy to get to know people. She loved making new friends.

Alana stared at her phone for a while. She had a right to worry about her parents of course, they were her parents. she sighed and set the phone down on the counter and sighed. she drank some of her water quietly. she couldn't believe she was up so early but then again she saw some of others when she walked into kitchn. she saw someone she didn't recognize walk into the kitchen. she watched as she opened the fridge and grabbed some gatorade. she smiled as the girl said hi.
"hi Angie i'm Alana."

"Nice to meet you, Alana," Angie said. She knew tons of cliche things that people asked after meeting each other at the Institute. They could ask about powers or how long they've been here but Angie wasn't much of the cliche type. So she just smiled once again after speaking and waited for Alana to say something.

Alana smiled as she finished off her glass of water, and set the empty glass on the counter as she sat their. she wasn't sure what to say at all. she never really interacted with the others like this at all. she had only met a few people, but other wise everyone was busy around the mansion. she sighed heavily, setting her cellphone down on the counter. she leaned her head on her hand.
"have you been here long?"

"My sister and I first came to the Institute awhile ago," Angie replied. "We went home for awhile and today is our first day back." Angie couldn't explain how happy she was to be back. She just liked it that much here. It was just a fun atmosphere. She liked living in a mansion full of teenagers. Things could get interesting.
"How long have you been here?" Angie asked Alana. She thought maybe that Alana could fill her in on things that have been happening since she was gone.

alana smiled. she wanted to have a sister and her only brother she had passed away when she was little. She traced her finger around the edge of the glass and sighed.
"well not to long, a couple of weeks."

"I see," Angie said. "How has your time here been so far?" She knew that you either made a friend right away or it took some time. It really depended on your personality, how many newcomers there were, and even just luck. It could be lonely if you didn't make any friends right away but it would happen with time for everyone. That was bound to happen in a house full of teenagers.

"it's been alright, i met a couple of people here, but not everyone."
She smiled and used her finger to spin her cellphone around over and over again on the counter. she was happy to actually talk to someone new, besides river and some of the others at high school. it was the first time she actually talked with somebody around the mansion.

"That's cool," Angie said. At first all Angie did was meet a few people but eventually she made a friend. This place could get pretty hectic at times and she didn't do well with those sort of things. Angie took another sip of her drink.

alana smiled as she continued to twirl her finger around the edge of her glass, staring at her cellphone. she kept thinking about her parents, but that only lasted a minute.
"you have sister that's here also?"

"Yea," Angie replied. "Her name's Jen." She smirked. Jen was her sister but she always acted like she thought she was her mom. Jen was the type to always boss her around and advise her to do everything. Angie was always the free-spirit and so she never took to what Jen said because she was always going to do things her way.
"Do you have any siblings?" Angie asked. She had heard Alana talking on the phone with her mom and thought that her family seemed like the close-knit type. Though just because she called her family didn't mean that they had to be. Some parents just were over protective. Angie didn't know anything but she was curious anyway.

alana smiled at her, and then looked down at her cellphone. she didn't have any siblings, she was the only child. She always wonder what it would be like to have an older sister or brother but then when she saw other people who have sisters and brothers, it seemed like a real pain.
"no....i'm the only child."

"Hmm," Angie said, thoughtfully. She began thinking about how life would be without siblings. To her, her brothers and sisters were pretty annoying so she thought it would be great to have none. "That must be cool. You get to do whatever you want without other people bothering you!" She didn't even realize that Alana might want brothers or sisters. She was too busy having brothers and sisters to think about how sad it would be to have them gone. She only thought about how they could be pests at the moment.

alana smiled at the thought. she did get away with alot of things and had most of her parents attention. well she had all of their attention for that matter. but then again she wanted to have a brother or sister, she know they can be a pest sometimes but still. she chuckled.
"yeah it's okay, i have my parents attention which is good....but sometimes they give me to much attention."
