Relations: Magneto (Father)
Powers: Polaris is a mutant with the ability to manipulate magnetism. Although she has the potential to exercise all of the powers that Magneto has, as yet she has only used powers involving the manipulation of magnetic, electrical, and gravitic fields. Moreover, she cannot summon as great an amount of energy as Magneto can. The exact limits on the amount weight that she can magnetically lift at present have not been measured, but they are considerably below those of Magneto.
Polaris has been observed levitating metallic objects and creating force fields in which she can suspend persons or objects in the air and in which she can protect them from attacks from outside the fields. She can also overload or short-circuit electrical systems. By concentrating, Polaris can perceive the world around herself solely as patterns of magnetic and electrical energy. She can perceive the natural magnetic auras surrounding living beings, as well. She is also able to levitate herself and others if she is holding onto them.
Affiliation: Independent
Skills: Good at hand to hand combat
Interests: Geology, looking to go to college to study this. Shoes and purses, she has a huge collection to match her equally large wardrobe.
Bio/History: Lorna was orphaned only weeks after her birth when her parents supposedly died in a plane crash. She was then adopted by the Danes, a couple who claimed to be her mother's sister and brother-in-law, not learning about her mother’s fate until Lorna 18. Her parents let her believe they were her parents and raised her as their own child. They dyed her oddly colored hair brown, hoping to help her fit in better.
Lorna grew up a fairly normal child. Active in school, received good grades, and made friends that her family approved of. She did normal things teenagers her age did, went on dates, attended sports events and hung out at the mall. She was safe in who she was and had a close relationship with the people she believed were her parents. Anna was Lorna's closest confidant; they had none of the normal mother-daughter strife that many go through. And John doted on her whenever he was given the chance.
When Lorna graduated from high school, the Danes’ sat Lorna down and told her the truth of them not being her true parents, but her Aunt and Uncle. John told her that her mother had had an ongoing affair with a man who called himself Magneto and that she was suspected to be his child. He also told her that long had he and Anna believed that her true birth father was responsible for the death of Lorna’s mother and her husband.
Outraged by the long kept secret, Lorna stormed out of the house and sat down on the front steps of their house. Glaring at the ground, she failed to realize that all seven cars within close range were now floating three feet in the air. When a lady across the street gasped Lorna looked up and saw the cars floating in the air. Immediately the cars dropped to the ground and Lorna stood quickly, rushing back into the house and to her room, locking the door so that no one would come in. Jumping onto the computer she tried to find out all she could about this man called Magneto.
Hours later, Lorna sat on her floor examining all the information she had found. Horrified that she could be related to such a person, she knew that she needed to leave. With this new freakish thing that she was now able to do, she knew she could hurt someone and that was something she didn’t want to do.
Lorna left quietly in the middle of the night, explaining everything to her parents in a note, and headed towards the east. She ended up in Michigan, rented an apartment and spent the next four years fine tuning Lorna's powers all the while finding out more about the mutant universe. After the four years Lorna found a great concentration of mutants in New York and decided that she needed to go there.
*Example Post:
Lorna picked up the washer and dryer for the third time and moved them around to the other side of the room. She was getting frustrated about this. Everywhere she moved them they never fit perfectly. They either were too big or too small. Finally with a growl she let the two objects crash to the ground. Throwing open the door with her powers, Lorna walked into the kitchen and grabbed a bottle of water.
Michigan was becoming too wide open for her. She had lived in a big city with her aunt and uncle and moved to the middle of no where to avoid strange looks while she worked on her powers. She had found the perfect place and lived there for a couple of years, but now she was over being alone. She picked up some pages she had printed off the internet about a Bayville, NY and it’s large amount of mutants. She found the thought of moving there interesting.
“My life needs something exciting and a move would be perfect.” That finalized it. Lorna would be moving within the next couple of weeks. Bayville, NY here I come, she thought.
