Full Name: Kevin Gregory Sanders (although he simply goes by Mayhem)
Codename: Mayhem
Age: 17
Hair color: dark brown
Eye color: hazel
Personality: Very “emo,” meaning withdrawn and moody. When you get to know him, you realize that he is actually very fun and wild, but he has been scarred from the traumatic manifestation of his powers. His “emo-ness” may seem to be an act, which would prove to be true. In reality, he has been caught up in a bigger plot before he had the chance to realize who he really is. He is still searching for himself, trying to find the median between who he used to be, and who he is now.
Appearance: Mayhem usually dresses in black band t-shirts covered by a zip-up sweat shirt. He is mostly seen wearing blue jeans and old worn out Chuck Taylors. His hair is long and very “emo,” choppy and cut at strange angles that allow it to fall at random places over his eyes.
Uniform: Mayhem wears a black latex bodysuit. He has white and black boots and a white stripe rides up the left and right sides of his uniform. He also wears a belt on which is strung multiple batteries that he uses to “juice” up his power.
Powers: Mayhem's has many small mutations that work together. First off, his body radiates a form of electro-magnetic energy that forms what he calls a "chaos field" around him. This energy appears as a frizzy blue energy that surrounds him. It has the ability to short circuit electronics and to make various things happen. He cannot control anything that goes on in his "chaos field" and so he has grown to fear and hate his powers. Secondly, he has the ability to absorb any electrical or magnetic energy that he shorts out. This energy is than converted within his body and rechanneled as an electrical shock of an electro-magnetic pulse. Lastly, he can use his "chaos field" to interface with solid matter, thus allowing him to "walk through walls."
Limits: Mayhem cannot produce electricity, he can only channel it. Because of this, to use his powers he must absorb the electricity from an electrical device. He can also utilize the charged particles inside of batteries to “juice” up and fire small bolts of electricity. Mayhem also has very limited control over his powers. The only thing he really knows how to do is to turn his "chaos field" on and off.
Affiliation: Mayhem has arrived at Xavier’s as a mole for Magneto’s Acolytes. Although he pretends to be a loyal student, secretly he is sending information to Magneto.
Skills: Mayhem's only real skill is lying. He cannot get too close to any type of electronic without either shorting it out or blowing it up, so he is pretty limited in what he can do. He pretends that he cannot fight, but he has trained with the Acolytes.
Interests: Before he found out that he was a mutant, Mayhem liked to play guitar, hang out with his friends, go to parties and stay out late, driving around and making mayhem. He loves listening to music, and going to shows and concerts.
Bio: Mayhem was Baptized Kevin Gregory Sanders, the middle child of Tim and Alison Sanders. He grew up in suburbia Pennsylvania with his older brother Jack and his younger sister Kristen. Not much can be said about his earlier days, only that he took a few karate lessons to learn how to defend himself from his older brother’s “friendly” torments. As the years passed, Kevin grew up and he began to test the waters of adolescents. As he approached fifteen and entered High School he fell into a close knit group of friends. He started to dress in black, worrying his parents, but he didn’t care. Kevin was too busy having fun, taking to the streets and staying out late at night. He loved going to shows and concerts with his friends, pushing his way to the front and yelling until his lungs grew hoarse. He was a wild child, a teen in his prime, loving everything about who he was becoming, and happy to leave childhood behind. But, nothing ever lasts very long. Soon strange things began to happen to Kevin. The microwave would stop working, or the television would randomly shut off. Once, the whole town even experienced an unexplained blackout, the source being tracked back to the Sander’s house. Although Kevin thought about what was going on, he never considered that he was the source of all these electrical mishaps; Kevin was way too involved in his own life, with his friends, constantly thinking about what rule they hadn’t yet broken.
But then, one hot summer night, when the air was thick with humidity and the mosquitoes were everywhere, the sound of crickets humming on the warm breeze, Kevin was walking home from a late night show with his friends. As he walked, he wondered why the street lights above him kept shutting down. It was as if a wake of darkness was trailing behind him. But his friends didn’t seem to mind. Lindsey was laughing about something, and her high-pitched voice was cutting through the wind, warming Chris and Darcy as they walked next to Kevin. And soon Kevin was laughing too, even though they started to walk crooked, sometimes just missing cars as they sped by.
It wasn’t until the four of them had to stop walking that everything turned sour. Darcy dropped her phone and Kevin reached down to get it. But when he picked it up it shocked him, and he dropped it to the floor. Then, a loud cracking sound was heard, followed quickly by an explosion. They had been standing under a transformer, underneath some power lines. With a deafening blow electrical energy rained down on Kevin and his friends.
In an instant it was over. All Kevin could remember was the sound of the sirens and the sounds the zippers made as the body bags were pulled shut. It all seemed to happen so fast. The violent manifestation of his mutant powers had torn away everything that meant anything to him. His best friends…he had killed them. Not able to deal with this, he fled the scene as the doctor examining him got distracted when his equipment suddenly stopped working…
Kevin ran until he couldn’t breathe. Somewhere, he didn’t know where, seemed like a good place to collapse, and so he fell, in a heap of cold sweat and broken spirits, onto the wet grass. It wasn’t until the next day, with the early morning rays of sun that Kevin woke up to a new life. He had managed to run three towns over, far away from his birth town. And as Kevin sat on the grass, contemplating what he had done, Fate stepped in. A dark figure in a billowing purple cape appeared in front of him. Extending a hand, the white-haired man offered Kevin a second chance at life, a new purpose to live.
Kevin, confused and alone, took the hand of the man. The man instructed the boy to call him “Magneto” and when Kevin went to tell him his own name, Magneto silenced him. He called him “Mayhem” and since then it has become the only name that Kevin answers to.
Magneto took Mayhem to a building, a tall Citadel that reigned over a mountainside. It was here, under Magneto’s tutelage, that Mayhem learned how to gain a small degree of control over his powers and abilities. But mostly, Magneto trained Mayhem to be an excellent liar. Magneto had an ulterior plan for Mayhem. He planned on sending Mayhem to Bayville, sending him as a rogue mutant who had no home and no family, a mutant who needed help, teaching. Magneto knew that there was only one man who wouldn’t turn Mayhem away, and that man was Charles Xavier.
And so, after two years of training, a confused and manipulated Mayhem heads out to the Xavier Institute, to infiltrate it’s ranks and report back to Magneto.
