Bio/History: She was born in Long Island,New York, her father was head of the police department and her mother owned a popular local beauty salon. Her mother's skill as a hairdresser took her around the world, and because of this Layla spent a lot of time with her father growing up,and she still would rather go to him than her mother, although she loves them both dearly. Her older brother, Jack, was the best big brother Layla could hope for. He helped her pass math(a class she despised) more than a few times and it's also because of Jack that Layla turned into a Star Wars fanatic. Early on his sister's life, Jack introduced her to the wonderful thing known as Star Wars, and she was hooked instantly. Layla, like many other homosexuals, can't really say why they're gay, other than "It just feels right to me". Whatever the reason may be, her family accepted her sexuality, even though she was thirteen, and her parents didn't pull the classic, "You're too young to know these things about yourself" speech. And if Layla's coming out wasn't big enough, her mother announced that she was pregnant with her third child, Jack who had chosen Layla's name, demanded that Layla get to chose the baby's name. Nine months later, in a local hospital, Luke Obi-Wan Kennison was born. It was at a junior high dance that she met her future girlfriend, Kelly, and at risk of sounding cliche; it was love at first sight. Kelly had it all; looks, brains, kindness and on top of that she was also a big Star Wars fan. Needless to say, Layla was head over heels in love, but because Layla wasn't sure of Kelly's sexual orientation, she made no move to ask her out. Layla was hopelessly in love and she was positive that a girl as beautiful as Kelly would never be interested in her. So it was a shock for Layla when Kelly, very nervously, asked her out, Layla's reply was, "Wait me? You want to go out with me? Yes". It was the beginning of a wondeful relationship. It was Kelly who got Layla interested in musical theatre, and she took her girlfriend to see Rent, Wicked and Hair, Layla fell in love with all three. Like many mutants, Layla's powers emerged when she was a teenager, and also like many mutants her powers emerged in the midst of danger. Not everyone was okay with Layla and Kelly's relationship, especially a young man named Damien Kilroy. He had been threatening Layla for a while, and it never really bothered her, but when Damien started to threaten Kelly, that's when Layla got angry. Her powers emerged when she witnessed Damien punch her girlfriend, and she can't explain it, but it was as if every bit of light was being pulled towards her, and suddenly she had a what appeared to be a sword in her hands, a sword made of pure light. To make a long story short, by the time Layla was done with him, Damien looked like he had been munched on by a wookie and then spit back out. Perhaps it was a reflection of how much she loved Layla and instead of fleeing from her girlfriend, Kelly seemed to fall deeper in love. Now came the hard part, telling her parents. Once again Layla's parents and brothers showed they're love to Layla, and Luke, who was now almost four, actually seemed to like the idea of his big sister being a mutant and to this day, Layla still smiles when she thinks about what Luke said, "Sissy, will you protect me from the monsters?" Layla now lives at The Xavier School For Gifted Youngsters, and she keeps in touch with her family and girlfriend, although she has yet to convince Kelly to visit the school.
*Example Post: Layla looked at Kelly, and then at Damien, who was gasping for breathe and had several harsh cuts that were bleeding profusely. She looked at her girlfriend again, and she started to do something she hadn't done in awhile. She started to cry. "I'm sorry Kelly. I'm so sorry" she openly sobbed, the tears running down her cheeks in salty rivers. She felt Kelly's hand on her shoulder, and she looked up. "Don't be sorry" said Kelly, wrapping her arms around Layla, normally she would've accepted the embrace, but this time she pushed her lover away. "Kelly, don't you get it? I'm a FREAK!" she screamed, and she punched the wall. "Layla, you're not a freak. Listen to me. I.Love.You" said Kelly, grabbing Layla by the shoulders and shaking her slightly. "What?" Layla was sure she had misheard Kelly. "How many times must I tell you? I'm in love with you" her girlfriend chuckled. "You don't care that I'm a-a mutant?" asked Layla, still not really believing this was true. "No, I don't and you're an idiot to think I would" Kelly pulled Layla to her and kissed her passionately.
How long ago had that been? Maybe six or seven months. And she could still remember it all perfectly. Now sitting on her bed, Layla pondered on how lucky she was to have Kelly, and asked herself; why, out of all the willing girls, did Kelly choose and mutant, Broadway loving, Star Wars freak? Well some questions just don't need answering. Now Layla pondered another thing; how to get her girlfriend to come see her at the school.
