Chase turned his eyes away. He was still hurt and wanted to dwell in it. He wanted to remain hurt, but her beauty, her soft voice, her silent strength was all overwhelming. "I did it for you," he whispered. Even after his mutant powers had come back, he had not returned to the bounty hunting life of before. He hadn't even used his codename, Orion, again.

"I know, but I wish you would have done it for yourself," Iris said reaching up and tenderly touching Chase's face, turning him so they were looking into each other's eyes, "But either way I'm proud of what you've become. I loved who you were when we met, and I love you even more now because of what you've become."

While quite a lot of what Chase did was for himself, he was sure there would have been more money and more pleasure involved in his own life. If he had been working only for himself, he might have gone back to it. But because of Iris and her quiet influence over him, he had not. But it was her other words that stirred him. "You... you love me?" His blue eyes swept back up to meet her's, a sort of radience coming from deep within the ice.

Iris' cheeks fluashed a little and she gave Chase a small smile, "Since we first met, since all that time we were together, and every moment that we've been appart," she said quietly her hand shaking a little. She had always loved Chase but never told him, "Did you honestly think I didn't?" she asked a sad look appearing in her eyes.

"I would never have left you," he replied, "because I loved you. I didn't... don't understand how you could just leave me if you loved me." His hand swept back through his clipped hair, not actually changing anything. "You've been gone so long," he finally said. "And if you've been watching me, I'm sure you know I didn't wait for you to come back. There have been other women in my bed. But Iris, that was only because I never stopped loving you. Something that strong left a big empty hole inside of me and God know's I tried to fill it. Nothing's worked. I know now that nothing could ever replace you." He lifted a hand to caress her cheek, but forced himself to stop. His hand hovered inches from her face and he bit his lip. An aching longing filled his eyes as he hovered on the edge of self-control and the rages of passion. He wanted to take her in his arms, kiss her, fill himself with her scent and eyes and everything. But it was her choice. She had left, so what if she didn't want him back?

Iris' eyes flickered to Chase's hand and she quickly reached out and took his hand in her own smaller ones, "I had no choice, I wanted to stay, with all my heart. But if I would have stayed this planet would be doomed. I would have never gotten to study my magic, and I would have never have sensed this threat to our world," she said looking at his hair, "And I couldn't have asked you to stay faithful to me for twenty-five years. That's why I broke it off before I left."

"I would have been faithful if you had asked me," he replied, his voice quivering and husky. His hand trembled in hers and then clamped in a tight hold around one of her small hands. Not so much to keep her from leaving as to simply reassure himself that she was real, that she was there. Gulping, he straightened and released her hands. "This... this is the moment of truth," Chase tried to steady his voice. "If you don't want me, then tell me now. I will still fight by your side for the fate of this world but I will bury what I still feel for you. I will let you go..." He shivered slightly, then continued, "But if you... would be willing to try and continue our relationship... then let me know. And I need an answer. We can't just talk, you can't leave it hanging. Any more, and I won't be able to let you the second time."

Iris' eyes softened with tears and she looked at Chase. Without a single word she took a step forward and kissed Chase, she wrapped her arms around his neck, tightly, remembering everything she loved about Chase, and the memories she loved about Chase. But this time it was different, in the past Iris had been far too shy to actually flat out and kissed Chase. Usually she waited for him to give her a kiss, often they were short and brief. But she wanted to make this kiss last, to make up for twenty-five years of being away from Chase. Tears started streaming down Iris' face as she continued kissing Chase her kiss growing deeper and wanting.

Chase easily accepted her into his arms, wrapping them around her slim back and drawing her to him. He kissed her back, the passion growing within him as it grew deeper. If she was any other girl, he might have said she was his. As it was, he was content to have part of her, knowing no owernship. He was content to kiss her and fill himself with her essence. He drew her kisses in like a thirsty man would draw in water.

Iris let out a content sigh and pulled herself out of the kiss, then added a smaller kiss to Chase's lips before putting her head on his shoulder, just letting herself be held by Chase, "Chase," she said her voice a little shakey as she looked up at him with her intense blue eyes then managed to whisper, "I love you," before her cheeks flushed and she buried her head in his chest.

Chase kept his strong arms around her, feeling her soft yet strong body, wrapped up against his. As she buried her head in his chest, he kissed her hair and softly said, "I love you, Iris." He never wanted to let her go, but he knew the drill. It was her choice. And it was because he loved her that he let her have her way. With most things. For now, he was happy just holding her close to him. She loved him.

A shiver passed through Iris as Chase told her that he loved her and she looked up at him with tear stained cheeks and smiled before kissing him again. This time her kiss was filled with fire and passion, and her body was pressed right up against Chase's body. She never wanted to leave him again. She had missed him, a lot.

Chase stumbled a few steps back into the dark of his room as she pressed against him, meeting her kiss in strength and intensity. She was more sure of herself, more bold, stronger. And yet he still knew the strength of his muscles in comparison to her's, the size of her body to the size of his. She was everything he wanted. She was the beauty that had haunted his life and yet made it worth living. He pressed her against the wall, kissing her deeply.
((Umm... I'm not entirely comfortable typing anything more than this if they decide to go further, so if you want it you are going to have to type it. It would be in Chase's nature to go further, but Chase is certainly different from me.))

((*Blushes* Let's just skip ahead))
Iris blinked and opened her eyes and looked around wondering where she was. Then she felt a pair of strong arms around her and relaxed, putting her arm around Chase's chest. She let out a content sigh and gave Chase a small kiss on the lips before going back to being held by him, and just enjoying the cacoon that their bodies and the blankets made.

((Thank you!))
Chase shifted his position and blinked groggily before realizing where he was. Then he smiled softly at Iris, but didn't speak. The early morning silence was relaxing and peaceful. And for the first time in many years, he didn't have the aching sense of loss deep in the pit of his stomach. Lightly, he ran his fingers through her long blond hair that streamed over the pillow.
Aaron knocked on the door that they said was Iris's room. Tapping his foot, he waited for an answer of some sort, but heard none. Maybe she was still asleep. Maybe she was up and somewhere else. He felt at a loss for what to do and had no idea what exactly they were going to do to stop the whole world from getting destroyed in a sea of evil. On edge, he stalked downstairs to find something to eat and hopefully stumble on someone who knew something. And wasn't hungover.

"Mmm," Iris murmured sleepily as Chase ran a hand through her hair. He knew her weakness and she relaxed even more into his arms. The moment just felt so perfect, she didn't want to leave it. But she opened her eyes anyway and looked up at Chase and smiled, "Good morning," she said quietly.

"Morning, Iris," he replied with a soft smile. His blue eyes seemed to twinkle in the rays of the rising sun, leaking through the window behind them. "I hope I didn't snore," he joked. It felt good. He had been serious for far too long and wasn't really a serious guy. However, the impending doom started to darken his thoughts like a stormcloud. "So... is today the day we take on evil itself?"

"Not today, but training begins today," Iris said sitting up her lond blond hair cascading down her back and shoulders. She glanced back at Chase and her cheks flushed a little and she wrapped a sheet around her pale skin, "And no you didn't snore, no louder then in the past at least," she said a small smile appearing on her lips.

Chase grinned back, his blue eyes running down her body. Her blushing modesty made his skin tingle almost as much as the slim shapes under the sheets and the still-exposed skin along her back. "Training, eh? You'd think we would have been through enough training by now. Most of us are veteren X-Men and I think the kid could do pretty well himself."

"Teamwork, and some trust needs to be created. Things won't come easily to us, particularlly between Ellen and Shrapnel, and Sinister with everyone else," Iris said getting out of bed and wrapping the sheet around her, she then turned to look at Chase, "And not all of us have stayed in shape, oh Robocop made of flesh," she joked.
