Sinister sighed patiently, and took the paper, and the pen from behind her ear, and wrote down the formula's on the paper, "Here," he said, "as per your request. Now, I don't suppose you'd like a helping hand with whatever it is you're doing, would you?"

As Sinister reached for the pen behind Josephine's ear, his hand brushed against her cheek, and instantly an electric warmth went through her system. Josephine quickly shook off the blush creeping to her fair cheeks, "No, I'm mostly just working on what ifs," she said taking the paper back, her fingers and Sinister's touching each others briefly before she broke the contact and looked away, "It's mostly boring stuff, but if you want to help you can. As long as you remember to carry the ones, of course," she joked a large smile coming to her face.

Sinister nodded, "Thats up to you. You seemed to take offense to my interjections a few minutes ago," He crossed his arms and tilted his head at her, "I would hate to impose if you have work to do, but in the spirit to our alliance, I would be glad to be of assistance."

"Well," Jo said sighing and rubbing her eyes tiredly, it had been a long flight, "Mainly because I'm not use to working with other people, you know at least that much. All my lab partners in college refused to work with me after two weeks. even if I did get straight A's. But I guess I'll have to get use to it, you know consitering the world is about to end, and all that whohaw."

Chase found his old room with ease, tossing his bags on the floor. In the dark, he sat down on the bed and simply stared into space, his blue eyes unfocused. Then he blinked as he heard the soft strains of harp music floating through the walls. Iris. She had always been one for the harp. But he knew if he sought her out, he would not be able to hold himself back, would not be able to keep himself frozen to her. And he did not want to get hurt again. He didn't realize the music was already pain.
"Hey, you ok?" Aaron said softly to Iris as he poked his head in the music room. He had dumped his bags in an empty room but hadn't been ready to turn in yet and did not really want to join the drinking party with the mutants downstairs. "Your music is heartbreaking and I was wondering if their was a cause." It could be the oncoming disaster that she spoke of. If so, it was frightening that she was playing dirges before the battle.

"You'd think I'd be sadden at the impossible task of saving the world. Or the fact that if this planet dies, I die," Iris said still playing the harp, her eyes closed to keep from crying, "But sadly no, this isn't why I play such sad music. I play sad music because my heart is in two pieces. And the man I love has become hard and cold because I had to face my guardian duties and leave him," she continued her small fingers brushing against the strings of the harp.

"You must have art in your soul to be able to talk like that," Aaron observed. "The man you love? I can't say I have much experience with relationships like that, but if he is ice, I'd say he could probably come around. You are back now, right? The thing about ice is that it melts. Cold can be warmed." Guardian duties. That was a whole realm of stuff that confused Aaron to no end. He had a hard time with stuff that the rest of the world couldn't see, prove, or believe in.

Iris stopped playing and looked at Aaron, "Art no, I've always spoken like this, some have consitered it part of my charm," she said and managed a small smile, "But if my love is ice should I go and speak with him, see if melting his heart can be started by a few kind words, and perhaps tears?" she asked the youger boy.

Even at that, Aaron grinned. "Men know about tears. They don't think it is a fair weapon. Chances are, he has already prepared himself for that. You could try if you want to. Like I said, I don't know much about it, but sometimes it just takes time. I know the world doesn't have a lot of that right now, but with luck we can make some more." Gulping, he asked, "What do you think are the chances of us surviving, winning?"

"We will win," Iris said her eyes glowing a little, "But sacrifices will be made. And my dear younger friend, I wasn't talking about my own tears. They have dried up a long time ago, I spoke of his tears," she said getting up and walking past Aaron, "I can face the darkest of evils, but it's even more frightening when you have to face an old lover," she told him before leaving the room and slowly climbing the stairs, and then coming to Chase's door and knocking softly.

Roxie walked out of her room, stretching her back muscles as she yawned.
"Hey Iris, ya min' I jus' party 'round on th' firs' floor? Insomnia sucks, ya know," Roxie said with a smile as she looked over at Iris at another day.

"Well, if he won't cry for you, he won't cry for anybody," Aaron murmered as she gracefully floated past him. He shook his dark head, said a silent prayer, and then started downstairs to join the drinking party. He wouldn't have much, just enough to help him think on things other than what seemed like an impending doom, despite what Iris said.
Chase stiffened as he heard the quiet knock on his door. It brought his mind back from where it was, miles and even years away. "Who is it?" he asked, his voice almost gruff. Only now did he notice that the harp had quieted. Where was Iris now? What was she doing? Was she thinking of him? He shoved the frenzied questions away as he waited for the answer to the knock on the door.

"Yes go ahead Roxie, I don't mind, just make sure to clean up after yourself in the morning," Iris said nodding to the girl and then on hearing Chase questioning who was at the door, she took a deep breath and replied, 'It's me."

Roxie nodded, walking down the stairs.
"Thanks hun," Roxie said, even though she was at the bottom of the stairs, "Whose up fer a drinkin' contest?"
"Oh! I'm so up fer it!" X-T said as she stubbled out of the kitchien, falling to the ground
Roxie looked down at X-T, shaking her head.
"Ya have a lil' bit too much cap'in in ya, X," Roxie said with the shake of her head.

"Woah, I think maybe you have had enough," Aaron said as he helped X-T to her feet. People the same age as his father falling around drunk... it seemed like maybe some of the X-Men had never grown up.
Chase was on his feet in a second before he tried to force his heart to slow down. "Iris," he said softly, his voice husky. Then he licked his lips and laid his hand on the doornob. Taking a deep breath, Chase opened it to find himself face to face with beautiful girl he remembered so well. He made his face impassive as he said, "What do you need?" in the same low, throaty voice. He swallowed, then managed to repeat her name in a normal, cool voice: "Iris."

X-T laughed, bopping his nose with her finger.
"Well thank ya, handsome," X-T said with a smile as she laughed.
Roxie rolled her eyes, taking X-T's arm and puting her shoulder under her arm.
"X-T, ya need ta sit down fer a bit," Roxie said dragging X-T over to the chair.
"Ya kiddin'! I'm as right-" X-T said, shortly interupted by a hiccup, "As rain!"
Roxie rolled her eyes and walked over to where Aaron was.
"She used ta never be like this after drinkin' a few. Shoot, when we worked at Th' Underground, she'd have more than the maxium ammount," Roxie said with a grin, then shook her head, "Not that ya needed t'know that,"

"You, your arms, everything," Iris mind screamed but she kept calm as she looked into Chase's eyes. She ran a distracted hand through her bangs and let out a sigh, "I just wanted to make sure that you were comfortable, that everything is alright, and if you need anything," she said quietly.

"Hey hey, I'm just a kid," Aaron protested X-T's compliment with a smile, but he was getting a little worried. This is what they were going to save the world with? That, and he wasn't exactly comfortable around drunk people.
"Nothing has been alright for twenty-five years. And I haven't had what I needed since you left," Chase replied truthfully. His icey blue eyes seemed to focus and soften as he kept looking at her. Soon they glittered with what seemed like unshed tears. "Iris," he repeated in a whisper. He wanted to raise a hand to her face, but instead only clenched it by his side.

"I'm sorry, all I could do was watch you," Iris said looking straight into Chase's eyes, "That's all the other Guardian's would let me do. But I watched you as you went thtough the academy, cheering you on, I watched as you went on patrols worried that you'd be hurt. I watched, but I wished that I could have been with you Chase, everyday that I was gone."

Roxie waved a hand at him and smiled.
"Oh trus' me," Roxie said putting her hands on her hips, "She'll be fine t'morrow. She'll be out fer a while, but tha's 'bout it. I ain't never seen her have a hang over. Anyway, ya want me t'make ya somethin'?"
X-T hummed a song she made up on the spot, conducting to herself with her fingers as her eyes rolled around in her head. It wasn't before long she drifted off to pass out.
