Christian scoffed at her, "You're asking us all to take arms again? Against what? Some magic demons? Creatures from the shadows? Look at us, Iris, no offense to anyone here, but it's been ages since we fought like this, tried to be heroes for a world that refused us. What is it you want us to do?"

"Because," Iris said her eyes glowing slightly as a far away look took her face, "We're the only ones that can. Each of us have the skills that are needed to defeat this evil. Together our world and the universe has a chance. If we don't stop this thing now then we're all doomed. And Christian that mean everyone born in the future as well," Iris said looking directly into Christian's eyes, "If we lose then the peace I've seen in the future will never happen and we'll all die."

Christian shook his head, "What does it really matter, Iris? It's never going to end, can't you see that? There are three steps to existence: War; Peace; Revolution. It's circle that's never gonna end! We quell one fight, and it's quiet for a while, until another starts. We quell it, another starts. Surely you've seen that in all the years we've fought."

"So you're suggesting that we just give up, let millions of people die on our planet without even fighting?" Iris asked her eyes blazing, 'I really wish that I could just give up like that Christian, but I can't. We might be stuck in that cycle forever, but I at least want to see some of the good thing that can come from us fighting," suddenly Iris looked very tired, "I wish you thought differently Christian, because it's going to take all of us to defeat this thing, and that includes you. In fact Christian, why did you even show up if you were opposed to fighting all along?

"So you're just going to let the world go to pot? You are willing to let it die away? You don't care at all what happens to future generations, what happens to you? Maybe fighting gets tiring after a while, but the things you fight for are worth it!" Aaron had idelized the X-Men when he was younger, wanting to be just like them. Now he had a chance to be and found that they didn't think it was worth it. To have his heros giving up made the whole mission hopeless."

Christian forced a tired smile, "I never told you I didn't want to fight, I'm just informing you of the uselessness it all represents."
His body sunk to the floor, and he sat in the corner, "And despite my disfavor to this situation, I brought some people who would like to help out, regardless."

Iris raised an eyebrow, 'And who might they be?" she asked leaning heavily on her staff. She didn't want any surprises, what Iris really wanted was to go to bed, curl up, and sleep until this was all over. But she couldn't she was a main key in this entire fight and she couldn't just chicken out, not this time.
Without meaning to Iris looked over at Chase and her eyes met his briefly, she looked away again. Everytime, even in the past, she looked into his eyes she felt like she was looking into his soul. And she could see the coldness, the hardness, and also the lonliness there. Iris let out a sigh and shook her head.

Sinister walked into the room, flanked by Shrapnel, his second in command of the former Marauders, "As much as I... hate... this alliance, I cannot let this world fall into darkness, Iris. I have much work to do, and I do not intend tp spend my immortality at the whim of something that crawled from the dark depths of hell."
He extended a hand, "If I can be of assistance, I will gladly give it."

Iris didn't extend her hand, "I expected you to show up, but not this soon," she commented looking Sinister straight in the eyes, her own eyes never waivering from his, "Please make yourself at home, though everyone's room is the same as they left, there are some extra rooms at the end of the East wing."

"I'm late aren't I?" Josephine asked walking into the mansion a dufle bag slung over her shoulder, "Iris, I'm so sorry I got caught up in my lab working out some equations and their experiments I lost complete track of time," she said smiling and running a hand through her brown bangs that hung slightly in her eyes. In her early years Josephine had come to Xavier's to gain control of her unpredictable powers, but once she had gained control she had refused to become an X-Man. Instead she had worked on her studies, graduated high school two years earlier then other people, went to college and got her degree in astrology, and then worked on her doctrine in general science.
For a while Josephine had worked in other people's labs until she earned enough money and built her own lab and large telescope beside her small house somewhere in Canada. She had been called by her old friend to come back to the Institute, at first Josephine had been relucant until she began seeing the small rifts in the universe and knew something was up.
Josephine rolled her large, very light blue eyes and smirked, "Then again I guess you're use to me being late," she added and grinned.
"Ah Josephine, for a moment I thought you'd be stuck in your lab forever," Iris said hugging her old friend, "I think you're the last person to come, so you're right on time."

X-T looked at Iris and smiled.
"I'm up fer a rumble or too," X-T said with a smirk taking off her sunglasses and putting them on her head, "An' I speak fer Sladias, Damien, an' Roxie,"
Roxie kicked off the wall and frowned.
"Hold it. I was stupid enough t'be dragged here, but now I gotta go back t'fightin' fer th' big leagues?" Roxie said with a frown.
"C'mon, Rox. Ya know ya wanna!" X-T said walking over to her and punching her in the shoulder.
Roxie sighed, her frown turning into a smile.
"Eh, I guess it can' hurt," She said with a smirk.

"Of course it can't hurt!" Aaron grinned. "If the world is about to collapse into darkness, not much you can do will hurt it. Anything might help. And note, this isn't just something we are dragging you along in, it is for everyone. This involves everyone and affects everyone." Realizing he was ranting again, he shut his mouth but kept grinning. It felt weird, being one of the youngest people in the room at age twenty-six. He might have labled most of these people a bunch of has-beens, but he could see the strength in their stances and the resolution of their will. They would fight harder than most people his age for what they believed in.
Chase's eyes caught Iris's again and again she looked away. Her eyes had always been beautiful, especially when they changed colors. Then he shook his head slightly and ran his hand back over his clipped hair in a gesture of an old habit. He couldn't really say he was going to be doing this for the world, although given the choice he would have. He was doing it for Iris. And not for her life either, because she could skip the planet if she wanted. He was going to be doing this because she wanted it to be done. Inwardly, he cursed himself for giving into her beauty so quickly. In a sense he wanted to stay mad at her. He wanted to somehow hurt her like he had been hurt.

"I think one of us older members needs to hit this youngin with a cane," Josephine joked setting down her bag and stretching out her arms, "You're cool kid, you're like Captain Planet or something."
"It's getting late, all of us should turn in, we'll be starting a training session in the morning to prepare us for the battle ahead," Iris said trying hard not to look at Chase, but failing miserably and looking at him dead on and studying him again. She wanted to talk to him,but she couldn't see how she could, it had been so long, and did Chase even love her anymore? She knew that he had other lovers when she left, and she held no grudge against him because of that. But did he hold the same hurt inside him as she did?

"Captain Planet?" Aaron said, raising his eyebrow. "Who is that? Remember, I didn't grow up in your era." He gave Jo a cheeky grin, further and purposly showing his youth. He wasn't used to being the youngest and was having fun playing around with it. "So, are the canes issued with your uniforms now?"
So, she can't keep her eyes off of me, Chase thought wryly. It was a joke, but he found nothing funny about it. Picking up his bag with one arm, a silent tribute to his hidden strength. His badge seemed heavy in his pocket, reminding him of the reason he had even taken the job in the first place. Meeting her eyes, he stared back with his cold blue ones. Chase didn't really know what that would communicate, but he sure hoped he real feelings didn't leak out.

"I hope so, us old folk are use to moving around like you youngins," Jo said grinning back at Aaron, she liked the kid he had spunk. If she was younger she would have tried to pursue him. But though her adaptation powers kept her young, going after someone younger then her would make her feel dirty.
Iris' own gaze pierced through Chase's, though her eyes werent as cold as his they were twice as tough, staring him down, and not giving in to his coldness. But secretly inside she wanted to throw herself into his arms and cry until she could dry anymore, and then fall asleep in his arms, like she had dreamed of for the last twenty five years. But Iris resisted her Guardian training had taught her control. She still continued to look into Chase's eyes, her own eyes growing stormy and a dark purple color.

Roxie looked at X-T, then at Aaron.
"Laugh while ya can, boy," She said with a smirk, "Ya may be th' one who needs a cane,"
X-T smacked Roxie across the shoulder with a frown.
"Gettalong with yer teammates!" X-T said with a wide grin on her face.
Roxie raised an eyebrow, then rolled her eyebrows. She walked up to Iris.
"What time do ya wanna us t'meet in th' mornin' Iris?" Roxie said raising an eyebrow.

"So, are you guys still the X-Men or are you the Golden Oldies? Super Seniles?" Aaron laughed as he picked up his bags. "Say, anyone know where I can get a room? I don't just have one to go back on."
A cool smile touched Chase's lips but never reached his eyes. Inside, he felt like falling on his knees. Her eyes were always the most beautiful when they changed colors. "Well, at least I can still get a rise out of you," he said coldly. The words were heartless, but he said them as a sort of revenge. Looking into Iris's eyes, he could see she wasn't frozen inside like he was. She was more hardened like someone who had been through rough times and survived. "I'm going to bed. See you all tomorrow," he proclaimed as he slung his bag over his shoulder and started up the stairs.

Christian sunk down into the corner. He hated this whole thing, coming back to the school, the fighting, the eventuality he would have to lead again, even going to Sinister and asking for assistance. Whatever made Iris call everyone back together warranted worry, and despite his anxiety, he knew Shrapnel and Sinister would be of use.
He fought that though. Remembering that Shrapnel had been the one to kill his friend Cole Alden had made Christian want to strangle the man on sight. Hell, the ramifications had been bad enough; the insecurities, the self-doubt, the solitary confinement he secluded himself to. He wondered why Iris would even consider having him back around, he was in no shape to help anyone.

Roxie yawned, scratching the back of her head.
"Well, I don' know 'bout y'all, but I'm doin' what Chase's doin'," Roxie said slinging her bag on her shoulder and walking up the stairs, "Nice meetin' up with y'all, an' chin up Christian. Ain't th' time t'get th' blues, eh?" Roxie smirked, then turned, walking up the stairs and down the hallway.
X-T crossed her arms, stretching out her back muscles.
"Well I, fer one, ain't tired," X-T said throwing her bag in a corner and walking into the kitchien.
"Anyone want a beer as much as I do?" X-T said raising an eyebrow as she opened the fridge's door.

Iris' eyes went through several emotions at once as Chase spoke to her in such a cold way, sadness, regret, guilt, anger, and lonliness. Iris looked away from Chase as he left the room. She should have known this would have happened, Chase was mortal and would never understand why she had to leave and stay away so long. But that didn't stop Iris from loving him, maybe even more now then ever. But she didn't go after him instead she directed her thoughts to Aaron, "Just follow everyone else to their rooms, and go a couple doors down, there's a few empty rooms at the end of the hall," she said and turned and headed towards her office, 'I'll be in my study if anyone needs me," she added before walking into the room and shutting the door.
"Finally, I can get back to work," Josephine said picking up her duffel bag and heading down to the basement to the lab and instantly pulled out the notes she had been studying, throwing on a bunsen burner and gathering up chemicals to try another experiment. She put on a lab coat and threw her long hair into a bun ahd got to work.
