The rumble of a motorcycle filled the driveway. The large gates were already open and Chase Jordan simply drove right through them. The years had taken their toll on him, but not just in the way of age. His always-ready grin had not shone forth in a long time. His hair, once shaggy, was now clipped short. His blue eyes no longer sparkled but were as cold as ice. He was wearing blue jeans, a leather jacket, and heavy boots. Two guns nestled themselves under his coat along both sides. Something must have happened along the way to turn him into such a hard man.
Chase quickly shifted the motorcyle out of gear and flipped out the kickstand. Dismounting, he started along the well-remembered stairway up to the front doors. There was only one reason he had come back and he knew she had to be here.
"Come on, Aaron! Can we please talk about this?"
Aaron Jones bit his lip and shifted the cell phone to his other ear. He used his other hand to plug his other ear from the roaring of trains in the background. Even for a small town like Bayville, the train station was crowded. "Sorry, Dad," he said, "But I've made my choice. Marie told me about the letter she got and since she isn't planning on coming back, I figured I could help."
"You know how I feel about fighting."
"Yeah, Dad, I know how you feel. But just because you feel that way about something doesn't mean I do."
The voice on the other end of the phone sighed softly before responding, "Your mother will be keeping and eye on you. Don't make her cry."
Aaron smirked. "I'll try not to."
"Good luck, Aaron." *click*
Aaron groaned inwardly as he snapped the phone shut and gathered up his bags. It was his mom's fault that his father knew he was in Bayville. His mom had the mutant ability to touch something and see its owner. She had a baseball cap from when he was a kid that she kept close to her. He was twenty-six now and that seemed a little over-protective. But then, the world did have a problem with mutants.

X-T looked down at Damien and smiled.
"Oh, come now, Damien. Be a genl'men an' don' groan," X-T said putting her hands on her hips, then looked over at Sladias, "I hope ya didn' pick that up from yer father,"
Roxie's lipped curl as she gave out a laugh.
"An' you ain't changed a bit," Roxie said putting her weight on her hips.

Chris smirked, then wiffed the air. "We got two new people here.." He said, then looked at Damien.
Damien did another scan. "Chase arrived." He said as he pulled away his fingers. "Chase is coming up the stairs." He said.

X-T crossed her arms, looked at Damien.
"Do ya know what he's doin' at th' gate? If not anythin', ya should go get 'em," X-T said with a smile and a nod.
Roxie rolled her eyes, then leaned against the door way.
"I hate bein' here..." She said under her breath harshly.

"Alright.." He said as he turned around to go meet Chase in the corridor below them. "Heya Chase. How ya doing?" He asked Chase after seeing him coming up the stairs.
Sladias smirked as he leaned a bit over near Roxie. "Oh come on Roxie.. Be a tad bit nicer to him." He said to her with a smirk.

X-T laughed, scratching the back of her head.
"Guess my memery ain't what it used ta be, eh?" X-T said with a laugh.
Roxie looked over at Sladias, then rolled her eyes.
"Sure! I can do tha'! In th' mean time, les' jus' go have a tea party with all th' lil' tots 'round here!" Roxie said sarcastically, then gave a harsh sigh.

((Sladias, don't do that. That is god-modding. Aaron is at the train station, not the gate, and none of the mutants here should know him. His father was not an X-Man and neither was Aaron. He found out from Midnight about this place. And Aaron is a boy's name. And Aaron is a boy! Change it please.))

"Aw, we love ya too, Rox!" X-T said as she beamed a smile.

"Who the hell are you?" Chase almost snapped. He didn't remember many people from back in the day, but then, he didn't really care to. It had been many many years ago when he left, and only one face had really remained in his mind.
Chase Jordan had changed. Some might have said it was for the better. He was using his powers and skills in the police force to help bring order and justice to what had once been his life. He used to be a paid mercenary, a hunter of mutants, but now he was actually contributing. But when once he had always been grinning and always in a good mood, now his whole soul seemed frozen. He was usually emotionless except for when he was drunk. That was also one of his failings. He had taken up getting drunk again since he left the institute. And this time it didn't seem for fun. He drank to forget. But somehow, he could never block that face from his mind. The soft lines, the perfect lips, the shiny blond hair. Iris. She had been the one who changed him, in the beginning. Then, she had left. He thought he had understood at one time. She was a Guardian of the world and of course she would have other duties. She was way beyond him. But even with that fact, there came no relief. His head my have accepted it, but his heart didn't. He harbored a great bitterness. Most of it was at the world for being the way it was and taking her from him, at the Guardians for whatever they had done in their part of removing her from his life. Part of the bitterness he tried to restrain, but he held it against her for leaving him. He knew he shouldn't, but he had loved her enough to be upset when she left.

X-T looked at him with a understanding smile.
"I'm sorry to hear that Chris," X-t said softly.
Roxie spat lightly, raising an eyebrow.
"An' tha' comes a shock t'ya?" Roxie said with a short laugh.
"Ya know, Roxie. Ya need ta know when ta shut yer mouth," X-T said with a growl at her, which Roxie in returned with a glare.

"Ladies, calm down. If Roxie wants to talk that way about her Ex-Boyfreind from back in the day, let her." He said soothingly to X-T.
"It's me... Damien. X-T and Sladias' son? Remember? I dunked you in the pool once?" He said to Chase, his mask blocking his face, his mask being something he wouldn't take off during the day.

X-T crossed her arms, rolling her eyes.
Roxie did the same, looking the other direction.
"I still hate this place..." Roxie again said under her breath.

The main door opened and with a strong breeze flowing through everyone in the room. Iris stepped inside, her skirts and long blond hair blowing everywhere. A smile played across her face as she saw that people had actually shown up. She mentally counted each one, and then lastly she was looking into a pair of familiar blue eyes. Instantly a pang went through Iris' whole body and she looked away from the eyes to see Chase Jordan's older, colder, handsome face. His rugged hair that she had love to run her hands through and sometimes braided when Chase had fallen asleep in her lap, though he always pretended to hate it when she did it.
The smile on Iris' face faded and she looked away from Chase, feeling guilty because the changes she felt in him had been her fault. And even if she had to leave, it was Guardian Code that she leave the planet on it's own for twenty five years to let it work on its own before she could come back. But she had always hated seeing Chase in pain and beating up on his self.
Iris shook her head her blond hair glinting in the light from the doorway before she closed the door with her foot. With quick hands she quickly gathered up her hair and braided it, tying it in a blue ribbon from her craftbag. Then she walked up to the group the smile on her face returning.
"It's so good to see you all," she managed to say, she was just happy to see that everyone was alive, 'I wish that things were better for us to meet," she added and smiled even more.

"Don't we all." Sladias said to her, his long black trench coat blowing in the breeze that was brought in with her.

Christian broke his silence, and stood from his lean in the doorway, "The letter was rather indescript, Iris. I can only assume that things aren't peachy for the lot of us to get back together. What's up?"

Chase raised an eyebrow when Iris came in, but besides that, his face remained motionless. However, inside his thoughts and emotions were churning. Iris barely looked a day older than when she left. That must have been either from being immortal or living on the Neutral Plane, he didn't know which. He saw her smile fad and she glanced away. At least she remembered him then. The twenty-five years must have been over. Originally, he had counted the days. Later on in life, he had purposely forgotton. Something struggled within him, a desire to take her and never let her go. To hold her again, run his fingers through her long blond hair. He squashed the feeling as best he could. He was getting old and she was immortal. He had promised her she could kick him out when he got old. When he was younger, it had seemed that it didn't matter that she could live forever. Now she probably wouldn't want to be burdened with him. She started talking, but he didn't really hear what she said. He just listened to her voice.
"Yeah, thanks," Aaron handed the taxi driver a couple bills and opened the door to the cab. His Vans hit the gravel with a crunch and he pulled he duffel bag out after him. His deep blue eyes darted around, examining the gate and the mansion quickly. As he touched the gate, he could instantly sense every break and flaw within the iron. On an impulse, he soldered the spaces and breaks. He wasn't that good at attaching things as his father had been and had never had the same taste for mechanics, but he could still attach things.
Soon Aaron made it to the double front doors and pushed them open. There was a large group of people inside, most around the same age as his parents. "Hey," he grinned to the young-looking blond who seemed to be greeting everyone. "I'm Aaron Jones and I'm here in Marie's... I mean, Midnight's place." He swept a hand back though his dark hair and glanced around quickly, hoping he wasn't interupting anything.

"Welcome, new blood is always needed in this place," Iris said smiling at Aaron and then she looked at Christian, "Indeed, since I've been gone many evil forces have seen Earth as a place to bunker and gather strength. In a few weeks is a rare night when the entire universe lines up together to create a portal, where an evil will come forth to swallow the worlds. Earth is the pinpoint where the portal will open up, and then first to get swallowed if the portal is open," she said and looked at the floor and then looked up again, "So I guess it's like old times again," she added and glanced at Chase. Sadly even if she had been away for Twenty five years, she was still able to observe earth, that included Chase who she watched everyday. She had watched his heart break, him going through the police academy and graduating, and him working and aging, all the while in between studying and becoming stronger in magic, she rooted from him and wished she could have been there for the good and bad times.
