"I still have the scar on my back that I got from our mission to Russia," Iris said fondly, "Even if I have surpassed your training I still have great respect for you and still recall you old war stories you'd tell me to get the point across."

"to be young again, Russia..." Raphael remembered the past, but preferred it stay burried, so he tried his best to avoid the details.
"yes, that was an unfortunate mistake, but you did your job, and of that I was proud."

Iris blushed and pressed the necklace into Raphael's hand, "I'm still your student no matter what, I haven't defeated you yet in combat, saved your life yes, combat no," she said.

"defeated me in combat?" Raphael was intrigued by the idea, he had lost only two personal duels in his life and the thought of losing another to a student of his was a pride inspiring image.
"The icon is not a symbol of your being better than me, but of your skills in combat. You are among a small elite, maybe a handfull in the world who are masters of the combat prowess, who could defeat most any other in hand to hand combat."
Raphael turned his hand over, and let the necklace drop from his hand, stopping at the end of its chain which was still between Raphael's thumb and fore finger. He placed the Icon about her neck.
"You always were one to deviate from the norm, never even took to calling me Pravus like all the others..."

"I found that calling you Pravus dehumanized you," she said thoughtfully trying to get use to the weight on her slender neck, "And I"ve always been fond of the name Raphael. Plus are you offend that a Stitch Witch call you by your name?" Iris asked pouring another cup of tea and sipping it as she looked at Raphael with amusement through her glasses.

"not offended at all, it was just something different. I also chose that name on purpose, sure it dehumanized me, but it allowed me to seperate myself from those terrible things that I had done."
Raphael sat back in the seat a little, relaxing. He had added several more scars to his face since the first time he had met Iris, but the dominant feature on his face, that long thick scar through his left eye still stood out. Raphael had grown older, maybe wiser, but he was no longer the same man he had been those long years ago.

"I pitied you when you took on the name of Pravus and went out to kill," Iris said sadly studying the scars on Raphael's face, that is until her cell phone rang. She looked at who was calling and sighed, "Raphael I'm late for the gallery playing," she said standing up and putting her spellbook into her bookbag, "You more then welcomed to come with me, but I'm afraid I get around differently then other people," she said taking her broom in one hand.

Raphael raised an eyebrow. "sure, I would enjoy comeing with you." Raphael had a feeling in the pit of his stomach that he might have made a regrettable decision, but hey, life was full of them.
"lead the way I suppose..."

"That's a good crazy instructor," Iris said running her hand over his head stubble as she walked by before stepping outside onto the street and letting go of her broom, it floated in the air and she climbed on it.

Raphael followed obligingly. He had no idea what to expect, as in all things he had left all of the mutant abilities to be described as magic, Raphael had no real interest in understanding it, because in truth he himself would never posess such gifts. Now however it looked as if it really were magic. Raphael had mixed feelings about it all, in truth he detested magic and mutant abilities and even ranged weapons, he preferred to rely on his own strengths, to do his deeds up close, where you would really see the consequences of your actions. Any one could shoot a gun, but it took someone different to do the deed up close.
"ok, whats the catch?"

"What do you mean?" she asked looking at him, and then realized how strange this must be and got off the broom, "Sorry, I'd forgotten how uncomfortable you are around magic," Iris said taking her old instructor's hand, "We can walk, it's only a few blocks."

"oh no, we can take your broom...there is always a first time for everything, and I do believe I have never ridden on a broom." Raphael let his hand be taken, it was human, made him feel real, not distant. Raphael had searched most his life to find someone or something to bring back that white unicorn he had lost, but had never found it. He felt at ease around Iris, though it was only because he could relate to her on some levels, not all of them, but a few.
"well, lets try this bromm business."

"Alright if your comfortable with it," Iris said helping Raphael onto the broom and sitting on it herself, "Hold onto my waist!" she said as the broom began to rise.

Raphael did as he was told, he had been through a few rough rides in his life, an did not want to fall off of something from any height at any speed, it was not becoming of a someone like himself. He held on, probably a little more tightly than he needed to, but not so much as it would be painful for Iris.
"this is definately something else..."

"Don't worry I've put enough runes on this thing to keep out all types of the elements, and to balance it so it's almost impossble to fall off," Iris said keeping one hand on the broom to guide it and placed another hand over Raphael's arms that were wrapped, perhaps a little too snug around her waist, "I'll show you how to make them incase you want to throw some on your armor, you know for old times sake."

"maybe later..." Raphael said as his grip eased a little. He was not relaxed, but he was not worried either. The arm on his own felt nice, Raphael had felt warmth in the act and enjoyed it. However the ground wizzing by below stirred Raphael out of his silent reverie.
"what are we going to again??"

"I'm playing the harp at a gallery, actually the guy I went to school with, he's a great artist," Iris said enjoying the warm breeze as it rushed around her, "It's on 8th street, right next to a bookstore I was doing a signing at the guy asked me to play."

"well, I would very much like to hear you play. Mayhaps afterwords dinner would be in order?"
Raphael was still holding on and he was still a little nervous about such contraptions, but he did want to hear Iris play.

"That sounds heavenly," Iris said as she let the broom drop and landed in front of a gallery, "Here we are, hold a moment," Iris said using her powers to transform her clothing into a black shirt and black skirt.

Raphael had just stood back and watched the spectacle, magic truely did confound Raphael to the point that he just shook his head, the less he tried to understand it, the longer he would live.
"well, that was...different." Raphael looked at the building they were standing in front of. he had been there once before long ago, but could not remember the details, only that there was an emotion associated with it, and it was either too strong or too alien to him to understand.
"shall we" Raphael made a sweeping hand gesture towards the entrance and offered Iris his other arm as an escort into the building.
