"You are in a public place, you might want to refrain from mentioning mutant abilities. I don't know where you are from, but it still is frowned upon here."
Raphael opened the menu and glanced over it, but closed it. He knew what he was here for, he only had to get through the meal to get it.

"Eh, I'll erase their minds later," Amelia said not even opening her menu, she knew what she wanted and it was from the dessert cart.

Raphael quirked an eyebrow and a waiter came around to take the order so that the conversation would be as little interrupted as possible until the food came. Raphael looked to his guest, motioning for her to place her order first.

"Um, well let's see, I'll have the double rich chocolate mousse, then the roasted chicken, and then the squash soup," Amelia said ordering everything backwards.

Raphael nodded, he was pretty sure she wanted it in that order too, but was unsure if the waiter would acknowledge that. He looked up, "I will have the porterhouse steak, medium well, with the house salad. I would prefer oil and vinegar as the dressing. For desert I would like to have the Rasberry sorbe."
Raphael nodded curtly as the waiter left the table. He wondered where the proprietor was.

"So," Amelia said trying to think of something to say, "You know in the future you trained me," she said casually.

"I don't perscribe to set futures. I am responsible for my own fate, I control my destiny. You speak of something that has not happened, that may never happen." Raphael was feeling patronized by the future comment. He disliked the idea of a fixed path that could not be altered.

"Oh, if that's how you feel," Amelia said looking a little upset and looking away, "My mother always told me, even though she could see into the future, she dared not to in fear she would want to change what happened. That's why I don't take after much, sometimes I'm afrain not to look. i hate being unprepared."

"Preparedness is a state of paranoia, one should be fluid like water, able to respond, but not waiting for action." Raphael said quite bluntly. It was his philosophy, it was what governed his fighting style as well as the way he waged war, always unpredictable, but striking with force.

Amelia bit her lip and she looked Raphael straight in the eyes, her own eyes burning, "But in some degree you should be prepared to the worst situation."

"a certain degree of detachment is required for me to live the life I have chosen. The worst, is always a far shade of grey compared to the things I have seen, and what I have been through."
Raphael sipped his water.
"Life is difficult, it makes us cold and hard often well before our time."

"And yet you continue to say how alone you are and how hard you are," Amelia said feeling the familier anger she always felt when her father would lecture her, "Then how come where I come from you have two children and are happily married," she asked standing up and slamming her hands on the table.

"I cannon answer for things that have not happened. And please do try to control yourself, we are in a public place. Sometimes we have to give things up so that others can live with them. I may be alone, but the future is not set in stone and I do not have to live my life this way forever. My greatest sin, was giving up joy..."

"Not set in stone? Then why in the hell am I here!" Amelia said and her eyes grew large, "Forget it, I'm out of here," she said waving off Raphael and walking out the door.

"so be it."
Raphael watched the girl leave, not particularly caring. She was hot headed and looking for a fight. Raphael did not know what her problem was, did not understand that she was his child, but had a good inclination based on her mood swings. He shook his head, so young and still so easily angered. Raphael himself had once been that way, his heart filled with hate, but life is not worth living that way, and Raphael had to let it all go.

As soon as Amelia had gotten out of the resturant she began running, and when she was out of breath she ducked into an alley and sat down and began to cry. Why was her father so cruel, so hard hearted, that it broke her own heart. She sobbed in her knees not wanting to get ahold of her emotions, he was a horrible, horrible man, and Amelia couldn't see how her sweet mother could love him so much.

Raphael got up, leaving enough cash on the table to cover his bill. He was not hungry. He left the restaraunt and walked out to the Valet. The boy knew him well and got his car quickly. Raphael tipped him and got into the car. He began to drive, in no particular direction, just away.

Amelia continued to cry, even as the night grew longer, suddenly she looked up and saw a light in front of her and an elegant woman with long blond hair stepped out and looked at Amelia, "Mom?" she asked.
"Well, not quite yet," Iris said gently and looked a little surpised as Amelia got to her feet and hugged Iris fiercely, "So you're the one the Guardians are having a fit about."

Raphael drove to the waterfront, near the river. He parked his car adn got out. standing in the cool night air. He looked up at the stars.
"what do you want from me, what did I do so wrong in my life to deserve an existance like this?" Raphael hung his head in shame.
"A man, I cannot call myself, I am lacking, deficient. I am a monster, one that was created as all are." Raphael stared back up at the heavens, "What torment could hell possibly hold over a life spent with no joy..."

"I guess, Iada and I didn't mean to come back in time, it kind of happened," Amelia sobbed into Iris's shoulder. It was kind of strange, but it was her mother, all and all, at least Amelia could count on that.
"Shh, it's alright I talked to the Guardian and we found that we need to let you two to stay here a little longer," Iris said patting the girl's head, "Come on, you're tired, you can sleep at my place," Iris said opening a portal and taking Amelia through. As she tucked Amelia into bed and closed the door to her guest bedroom, Iris opened another portal and stepped through.
"Hey, it's a nice view tonight," Iris said leaning against the railing beside Raphael.
