Amelia, a sophmore in college frowned as she read out of a textbook, studying for her midterm the next day. She was twenty years old, her mother had taken her to the Nuetral Realm when Amelia was born and the time gap between earth and the NR caused Amelia to grow up faster. But two years ago her mother had sent her into the real world and here Amelia was, studying to be a doctor in the university.
"Yeah he always acted like his knickers were in a twist," Ellen agreed.

"Christian was too straight-laced for his own good. If he wanted something, he made it happen. He really took it hard when she left, but if someone saved the future for me, I'd wanna go see how things were changed too. Amelia was right to go back."
Christian James sat outside the university, waiting on a bench for Amelia to exit from her class. He was 27 now, and his blonde bangs had faded to a light red, closely matching his hair. He akwardly touched against his left pectoral, where he had a tattoo of the greek Sigma symbol, something he had done after he left Xavier's Institute to commemorate his former team.
He looked down, behind the bench, where he had stashed a bouquet of roses, a fresh dozen he had picked up from the floral shop downtown, and smiled, thinking of what Amelia would do when she saw him.

"Yeah but it wouldn't bee the same Amelia, the Amelia now would have never known about the Legacy Virus, let alone any of us. If he does find her then I hope he doesn't freak her out," Ellen said throwing her stuff into an empty room.
"Yo, Amelia, come on class is over you bookworm!" Destiny, one of Amelia's close friends said slamming Amelia's textbook shut and grinning.
"But the midterm is tomorrow!" Amelia protested trying to take her book back from her friend.
"Girl you're top in our class without even using your powers, you'll do fine, caust tonight we're gonna party!" Destiny said grabbing Amelia's arm and pulling her outside.

Christian stood up as Amelia entered the campus courtyard, smiling and grabbing the rose bouqet. He didn't know what he would say to her, but he had waited a long time to see her again. He knew he'd think of something, even though he knew it wouldn't make her care the same way again. That was something Christian came to terms with a long time ago.

"First off I'm going to curl your hair, give you some of my clothes to wear, maybe that purple shirt you've been drooling over, put some make-up on you face, and then we're gonna dance all night long!" Destiny said and Amelia laughed.
"We have to be home at a decent hour this time, you fell asleep duirng the last midterm," Amelia said.
"I passed didn't I?" Destiny retorted before looking around, "Hey check it out newbie on campus," she said pointing directly at Christian.
"Dest, come on people don't like being pointed at," Amelia said not even looking at the guy but instead rolling her eyes.

Christian smiled faintly as Amelia's friend pointed. At least one of them had acknowledged him. He walked up to her from behind, and paused, cautiously, "Amelia?"

"Yes?" Amelia asked turning and looking at Christian with her large purple eyes, "I'm sorry I'm not tutoring or giving campus tours this semester."

Christian smiled, "I'm glad to see you made somethin of yourself. You always were a bright woman."
He stopped, knowing that was not a good way to start a conversation. "These are for you," he said, handing her the flowers, "and I'm not a student. Just...an ...old friend, I guess."

"Yep, he might even be taken for a stalker or something," Ellen commented, "Hey does Eliza do the cooking around here, if so we should make a run for the nearest pizza place."
"Um, I think you have the wrong person, I've never met you before," Amelia said her face flushing and she looked away and handed the flowers back to Christian.

Christian resisted, "I know. I know you haven't met me. Thats why I was wondering if you might have a few minutes. I'd like to talk with you, if I could." He tried offering her the flowers again, eyes pleading with her to hear him out.
"If Eliza if doing the cooking, I volunteer we order out, but I haven't heard any firetruck sirens yet, se we may be in the clear."

"Do you want to go out anyway?" Ellen asked casually.
"Dude, Melia, party, we gotta go get ready!" Destiny butted in.
"I know hold on," Amelia said still not taking the flowers but looking at Christian with interested eyes. She felt like she should know him, but it was something that was beyond what her memory could recall.

"Hell, I'm game for anything," Kevin said, "What are you in the mood for?"
"Is it alright if we go somewhere, and talk," Christian asked, trying not to sound like somesort of kidnapper, "I know for a fact what what I wanna say is gonna need alot of detail."

"Hell this place has changed so much you chose," Ellen replied.
"Melia!" Destiny whined, "We have to go, you know your hair takes forever to do, and this guys had a creepy stalker vibe to him!"
"Okay, okay, just give me a minute, just start walking," Amelia said waving Destiny off, who in turn huffed and stomped off, "Make it quick or she's going to flood my room again."

He smiled, "I'll try, but this is kinda a long story." He sat in the grass, and nodded for her to do the same, "About 7 years ago, I was a student at Xaviers School For Gifted Youngsters, a safehouse and educational facility for mutants. One day, along the course of my attendance..." he took a breath, knowing this would be the hard part, "You appeared in town. I met you outside a toy store. You told me you were from the future. A future beseiged by a virus that destroyed mutants, and had left the world in ruin."
He sighed, knowing none of this would be believable, "I agreed to try and help you prevent that from happening. You still with me thus far?"
Kevin walked out the front door, holding it open for Ellen to follow him, "I'm willing to drive around for a while till something looks good, you in?"

"Sounds good," Ellen said smiling.
"Not really but go on," Amelia said her eyebrows furrowing and she frowned.

"I'll try and sum it up for you: We stopped the virus from going public, and on the way, you and I fell in love. And you made me promise that I''d find you, and try to make sense of it."
He reached into his pocket, and felt a necklace. One Ellen helped Amelia make for him as a going away present, and thought about showing her. But enough was enough. If he couldn't make her uncover whatever may have been locked away in her mind in the name of fate, an old peice of jewelry couldn't help him either.
"Could you do me a favor? Just take the roses, since I know you won't take my word?"

Amelia sighed and rubbed her eyes, "So your saying that one of my former selves saved the future, which means this Legacy Virus never happened. Whic all in all means I'm not the same girl that went back into the past," Amelia said actually quite calmly, "My mother explained something like that, but I didn' think it would apply to me."

Christian sighed, "I knew it was a hard pill to swal-...," His eyes widened to saucer-size, "Wait, what!? So you don't think I'm a looney?"
He took a deep breath, "That's great, what else do you want me to clear up?"

Amelia laughed, "I've been learning about time and space since I was little I have some knowledge on it," she said, "But the problem is since the timestream was changed I'm not the same Amelia you were in love with. We might look the same but our pasts are completely different as well as our future. I'm sorry to have to be the one to tell you," Amelia finished placing her hand on Christian's arm and looking at him with concern.

"I know, I know," he said, trying to keep his voice strong, "I just promised you way back than that I'd find you. And I never make promises to people I love, if I don't intend to keep them." He looked into her eyes.
Those eyes. And smiled. She was different, but the same. And he was thankful to have seen those eyes again.
Kevin started his car, "Did you tell Eliza we were leaving," he asked, knowinf Eliza could stomach her own cooking, and thus didnt care about the answer.
