Onslaught smirked, and stomped towards Chase and Iris, until his behemoth form lapsed over them, eclipsing them from all light, "Such heroic nonsense," he smiled, and raised a fist, and brought it down on them.
Rumble forced Onslaught back from them by pushing him away on a gust of wind, nearly knocking the beast over, "Not today, big fella," he cried, "I know you and I were the best of friends not too long ago, and I would have died for you then. I'm not dying for you now, unless I take you with me."
"And so you forfeit your life, and what we shared, old friend," Onslaught taunted, "You are as dumb as I thought." He grabbed Cole by the neck, lifted him into the air, and slammed him into the ground, leaving a crack in the pavement.
Rumble landed, coughed, and tasted blood. He forced himself up, feeling a rib snap, and looked at Chase, "Get her out of here," he yelled, "Take her to the Jet, and away from the fight, she's done enough today."

Chase gave a quick nod and struggled to his feet, holding Iris close and hunching his back over her as he started running, dodging through the soldiers, rubble, and bodies. Reaching the jet, he clambered in to try and find somewhere to lay her.

"No," Iris said weakly her hand clamping onto Chase's arm as she opened her now purple eyes. Her grasp was strangely strong for someone who looked half dead. Iris tried to climb down from Chase's arms to go back to the fight, "Cole, he'll be killed," she gasped finally getting out of Chase's arms and falling to the floor, trying to get to her feet to go and fight.

Strong hands clasped Iris's arms, holding here in place as much as holding her up. "No, Iris, you'll be killed! I think he is in slightly better condition than you, and if I remember correctly, you just got thrown against a wall and passed out. No, your fighting is over."

"No," Iris said weakening a little going limp in Chase's hold, "I can't leave him, to be killed, I'm resposable for this team," she said and tried struggling against Chase's hold to get free, the attempt was pretty weak but she struggled anyway, "I-I can still fight," she then said as tears rolled down her cheeks leaving lines in the blood on her face.

Cole spat more blood as he was lifted and slammed into randomly strewn objects. His arms wrapped around Onslaughts giant hand, "Stop," he coughed.
"What, and stop trying to kill you? I doubt that is likely," Onslaught replied smartly. He tossed him into a light pole, Cole's ack cracking against the steel, "Like I told the girl, the dream is dead."

"Don't you get it? You are going to die if you go back out there!" Chase almost shouted. "We've lost, Iris. If they haven't already destroyed the drug, then they are almost done doing it. The big hulking mutant does not seem at all worse for the wear, not to mention there are more of them we haven't even fought yet. They've won, and we just have to give up!"

"I can't give up!" Iris said her struggling becoming weaker, "None of us can, if they destroy the drug, we're all doomed, the government will make all mutants be registered," she cried and then went still, "If they destroy all traces of the drug, then you'll never have your powers back, Chase," she said quietly looking up at him with sad tearful eyes, 'You'll be sad, and I can't stand it when your sad Chase, it rips my heart in two. So I have to go back," she said and started struggling again.

"Maybe they will make mutants register. But at this point, it seems there is a choice between having to register and them taking away mutant powers without giving the mutants a choice. It is too late, they already know of the attack. Even if we manage to save the drug, what do you think they are going to do with it? Just ignore the attack and go back to freely giving out the cure? The consiquences of us saving the drug could be even worse than if they destroy it. What if the government uses this to declare that all mutants need to be cured?" He drew in a deep breath and sighed, "Iris, my powers aren't worth your life. I'd rather live the rest of my days being a human than see you die." Turning his eyes away, he looked back at the fight, mutants and soldiers running around... "Actually..." he said slowly, musing. "There is the 'Cure' in all those guns and they've been shooting it at the mutants. Stay here. I'm going to get my hands on a gun." Setting Iris in a chair, he looked straight into her eyes and said, "Don't move. Seriously." Then he jumped out the door and ran back toward the labs.

"Chase," Iris managed to say before her body seized up from pain. She felt her ody slowing shutting down, her injuries too great, "Chase," she mouthed before she closed her eyes and slumped forward falling to the floor of the Blackbird and laid still, her body limp.

Chase stopped in his tracks, his ears picking up the soft voice calling his name. He spun around in time to see Iris collapse on the floor of the jet, her blood slowly forming puddles on the ground and her long blond hair flowing out behind her. "Oh shit, oh no." Running back toward the jet, he leaped inside. Carefully, he turned her over, ripping off his shirt from under his jacket to tear it into peices. Using the long strips of black cloth, he started to wrap up the largest wounds. How could he not notice how badly she was hurt? Did he think she would survive because she was a Guardian? Snatching up his communicator, he pressed the talk button and practically shouted, "Iris is really hurt! Is there a medic anywhere? A healer? Anybody?"

"I like mortals, they're silly," a voice said above Chase and from a small portal a little raccoon-looking girl fell out followed by an older man and woman.
"Now now Cherpie," the woman said shaking her head, "We exists to help mortals, there's no reason to tease about them."
"I have to agree," the man said leaning over Iris' body, "She's a tough little thing isn't she?" the man asked Chase.
"She gonna be alright, right?" Cherpie asked looking around the man's leg at Iris' beaten form.
"Yes, her magic is strong, it'll take a lot more then a few bruises to kill her," the man said taking Iris from Chase's hand and cradling her in his own, "She'll survive, hopefully but we'll have to take her back to the Plane to heal."
"I see," Cherpie said and grinned waving her hand and opening a portal and the man step through with Iris, the older woman followed.
Cherpie looked at Chase with narrowed eyes, "She invited you to the Neutral Plane, if you wanna come along, you'd better come now," she said and then grinned.

Even if Chase could get a word in edgewise, he wouldn't have been able to think of anything to say. The people were strange, and he hoped he wasn't making a grevious mistake by letting them take Iris. They talked like she did, but who was to say they were her friends? But friends or no friends, she might die without their help. Starting at the glare of the strange girl, he nodded his head silently at her statement and prepared to follow them into the portal.
Pausing for a second, he took the communicator and spoke quietly, saying, "There are samples of the cure in the guns. Someone secure one of them before they can all be destroyed. I'm going with Iris. She will be fine." Then he turned the communicator off and stepped into the portal. He was afraid. It was so much easier to be afraid when he lacked his powers, as if he was suddenly vulnerable. But he had to follow Iris.

"Make way for the mortal," Charpie said bounding around Chase running a few steps and running back clearing the way for Chase as they stepped into the portal and appeared in a large hall that seemed to have no end even if someone tried to focus on one point they couldn't because it would change right before their eyes. She looked back a quickly sealed the portal and grinned.
"Come on move it you guys we got a mortal at a guardian fancies," Charpie said pushing herself through the crowd that was gather, "Well come on mortal or we're going to loose Iris in this crowd!"
Meanwhile many steps ahead of them the man and the woman were looking around, "You there," the man said pointing to a green man with red wings, 'We need the best healers, and any doctors that are laying about, no questions just get them," he said and quickened his step to a door, which he kicked open to reveal a medical bay of some sort. He picked the closes bed and laid Iris down shaking his head on how thin and pale she looked.
"It's bad," he murmured picking the girl's arm up a glow passing from his body to hers.

"How does it taste," Onslaught asked, his heel digging into the back of Cole's skull, as he pressed it into the dirt, "You reek of disappointment, Rumble, you did when I was your friend, and I've no doubts it's why Ellen left you as well."
Cole's eyes squinted in anger. He took as deep a breath as he could, and shoved all the air in the vacinity outward, knocking Onslaught back and into a wall.
Cole stood up, and walked up to Rogue, still laying on the ground. He brushed her hair from her face, and picked her up, and began back to the Blackbird, "Come on, Belle," he whispered, unsure if she could hear, "Time to go home..."

((Someone get a sample of the cure so our mission wouldn't be in vain!))
Chase felt like he had stepped into a dream. After a few moments of staring around the crowded hall, he decided that it would almost be better if he just thought of it as a dream. This certainly clashed with much of what he had grown up believing. Silently, he let his mind slip into the unconditional acceptance of what he saw because he believed he would wake up again. ("You have the look of a man who accepts what he sees because he is expecting to wake up." Guess that quote!) It grated on his nerves a little that the strange girl would run ahead of him, yelling out that he was a mortal as if she were leading a rapid dog along the never-ending halls. Finally, he made his way to the medical bay behind the man and the woman and watched them lay Iris's limp form down on one of the beds. For reasons he couldn't comprehend, he wanted to hold her still, but he didn't dare. They had let him come along as a visitor and it wouldn't be wise to get in their way.
Damaris jogged in Onslaught's direction, but she wasn't sure what she could do with such a creature to help it. Not to mention she had been warned to stay away from it. The battle was dying around her and she saw one X-Man pick up a fallen teammate. She didn't interfere. Hopefully, down below, the cure was destroyed. Hopefully their mission was complete.

((Is that The Matrix?))
Cole looked down the landing ramp, and saw one of the syringes the military had been using to fire off the mutant cure. He jumped down the length of the ramp, picked it up, and headed back up, wincing at the amount of pain the action had, "TK, you read me? Get your hefty ass back up her, pronto! We're pulling out!"

Iris' lungs suddenly filled and she gasped for air and her eys flew open looking around wildly, 'What happened?" she asked trying to move her body but couldn't then she glanced down at where the man was feeding her magic and energy, "Oh," she added relaxing a little, "That bad," she added again.
"Yes, pretty much, if I hadn't connected life forces with you you would have died. And right now I can only give enough energy to keep you alive until the healers come," the man said, 'Even then I doubt they'll be able to completely heal you."
"That's expected, at least I'm not dead," Iris said dully glancing around the room and her eyes focused on Chase and a look of relief crossed her face, "you're alright, I thought you'd would be dead," she said to him and managed a small smile, the pain her bady was going through returning to her concious mind.

TK seemed to go deeper into the ground as she was pounding behemoth almost seeming with the intent to kill he barely could shield his self.
“Ya crazy!” TK backhanded the van out of her grasp and gave her a hard hook sending her hurling through the air.
TK stood as he was waiting for ellen next move.

Ellen chuckled as she looked around after getting to her feet, "Smart move X-man," she chuckled before punching the next to the last pillar watching it crumble and fall over, "And I'm not crazy, I'm giving you a chance to get out of here aren't I?" she said looking back at TK before walking up to the last pillar and punching it.
