"I don't know why....." He actually took a moment to process her question. "Music? Um...oh! Music! Yeah I like music!" He smiled a bit crookedly, thanking God she changed the topic. That's what he liked about her. Not that he liked her, but he did like her. She was sweet. "I like...um...all sorts of music and stuff...you?" His blush began to fade slightly.

"I play the harp, and several other string instruments, well not lately, I've been too busy," Iris said smiling as Huntin relaxed, 'I've missed it but I have more important duties to attend to," she said but her eyes got a far away dreamy look, 'I was told I was pretty good," she then smiled, "What's your instrument of choice?"

Huntin smiled softly. His pants weren't tight anymore. He managed to relax his body some and straightened himself up. He liked this topic. "Piano. I play pretty good...I mean I don't wanna sound self-absorbed but I do play pretty damn well." He scratched his neck a little. "I like the harp, it always reminds me of Marx Brothers movies."

Iris laughed and nice full lunged laugh, "Well as much as I like silent movies, I'm not much into silent movie music. I perfer more classical music, and sometimes my pwn music," she said still smiling and meeting Huntin's eyes with her own and her smile becoming warmer, 'But wow the piano, you have so much more music to choose from then me."

Huntin blinked for a moment. "Marx Brothers movies aren't silent...." He looked at Iris like she was a little crazy or something. Then he shook it off. "Sorry, for years all I did was stay inside and watch movies so I'm a bit of a buff. Anyway, yeah...I love the piano." It was then he truly let his eyes meet hers, but no blush returned. He became even calmer. He grinned slightly, warmly, happily. "Yeah....lots of music."

"Sorry, I'm not really one to watch too many movies," Iris said looking at the knitting she had been doing as she spoke to Huntin, 'I guess I was trying to impress you or something," she continued and shrugged her cheeks flushing, "Once I heal though I''ll treat you to listening to me play the harp, if you want."

"Oh, no, I'm just a movie prick." He chuckled and pushed some of his thick locks out of his face. "No need to try and impress me, you already have. And I would LOVE to hear you play when you get better. And I'd be more than glad to torture you with my playing whenever you want."

"Then it's settled we'll both torture each other in the way of music," Iris said and smiled suddenly feeling warm inside, 'And I'd like to hear you play, it's been a while since I've been able to listen to someone else play."

"Same here. Some cat girl played for me when I first got here. She was pretty good. Other than her I haven't heard anyone since I was in, like, Maryland. He was a floutist. Damn good." He smiled, looking into Iris's eyes still, his stomach getting that gooey warm and fuzzy feeling.

Iris looked away her cheeks bright red, "My grandmother use to play the flute, usually to get me to fall asleep at night when I was younger, or if I had a bad dream. sometimes I have dreams of her playing the flute," she said then went quiet, 'I'm sorry I'm prattling on about myself, tell me about your childhood Huntin," she said looking at him again and accidentally metting his eyes.

"Um...well....I was born with my lovely complexion in Texas, so my parents pretty much kept me inside." He looked away from her, his smile fading a bit. "My parents didn't like, beat me or neglect me or anything. They just gave most of the good attention to my brother Lyle. Um...we moved to Seattle when I was about a year old. When I was old enough to go to school my mom would slather me with makeup every morning to hide my mutation as best she could, but the eyes were always visible. I guess she chalked it up to a disease or something. She's also the one that taught me piano."
Huntin cracked his knuckles. "We moved to Sacremento when I was ten, and everyday before the bell rang I would take my makeup off. I was sick of hiding it, you know what I mean? People called me a freak, monster, the usual, but I didn't really care. I just kind of sat in the back and ate alone at lunch to avoid people. When I was twelve I got my invisiblity, had some real fun with that. Teleportation at fourteen. I got expelled for being a nuisance, and I pretty much told my family goodbye, packed my bags, and left."
He took a slow breath and looked back up at Iris. "I traveled the country for the next three years, got odd jobs and everything. I was sneak into people's attics to sleep for the night. It was okay. I was free at least. One night an old mutant lady picked me up in her car, told me about this place...and now I'm here talking to you. Wow um," he shifted a little nervously. "That was probably waaaaaaaay more than you wanted to know."

Iris looked interested through the entire speech and blinked a few times when Huntin finished, "No you answered my question, what a fasinating life you've lived," she said still looking interested as she glazed at Huntin, 'At least you got a chance to grow up with other people, I lived a more sheltered life in the middle of the woods with my grandmother."

"Yeah, never a truly dull moment, at least. I really lucked out as far as phsycial mutants go. I wasn't totally abhorred or anything. Not killed or beaten...but enough about me. You lived with your grandma?" He looked just as interested in what she had to say.

Iris blinked and almost looked surprised that someone was interested in her past. For the most part she listened to others as they came to the school, so this was a nice change of pace, "Yes I grew up with my grandmother, she given the role of Guardian to my mother, and my mother grew insane and my grandmother took me and went into hiding. We lived in a small cottage at the foot of a large moutain, it was a beautiful place to grow up, even if I was alone. My grandmother knew I was a mutant before I even did and taught me all she knew about needlework, and thankfully through her lessons I gained control of my powers at an early age. Then my grandmother died, and I had nowhere to turn so I hitchedhiked all the way up to Xavier's," she said only telling a small portion of her life story and stopped and looked Huntin in the eyes and blushed, "You really don't want to know all this about me, do you?"

Huntin was mezmerized by her story. "No, I do! Usually you just hear about like...I unno...crap like my story." He smiled. "So, what exactly IS a Guardian? And what do you guard?"

"A Guardian is someone whose bloodline is filled with magic and is choosen, usually generation by generatin, to Guard the planet and it's alternate dimestions. Through my family I became a Guardian, my blood filled with magic and my mutantion developing later on, and if I choose to have children my first born daughter will become the next Guardian," Iris said and closed her eyes again, 'Basically I watch humanity and make sure it's on the proper path."

"So this isn't just like a part-time thing?" Huntin chuckled, slowly standing up. "Sorry, I don't mean to tease or anything. It's just what I do." He smiled. "I don't know how often you hear this, but thanks for protecting humanity and multiple dimensions and everything. It's real cool."

Iris chuckled, "Actually you're the only the second person to thank me. The first was Chase, which I found odd in itself, well maybe there's hope for humanity yet," she said smiling her eyes going a little dreamy when she mentioned Chase but she quickly shook it away, "No and it's not something I can quit, it a burden and take on my own, but I have no regrets on being a Guardian, if not me then who?"

"I unno. Buffy?" He shrugged and c.ocked his head to one side. "Who's Chase?" His voice cracked a little when he spoke, his brow furrowing. Not that he cared if she had a boyfriend but she really wished she didn't have a boyfriend.

Iris looked up and smiled, "My nanny at the current moment, a man I nursed back to health and now he wants to return the favor and haggle me about not resting enough and moving around too much. He means well, and worries, but I suppose he doesn't realize how strong I am," Iris said shaking her head reading Huntin's facial features, "He is no boyfriend or lover of mine, I could never ask a mortal to have to go through the life I lead."
