Scaleface had adjusted quickly to the life of being in the Mansion. She'd gotten a few new outfits and had bathed for over two hours, leaving her hair smooth, sleek, and long, not to mention clean. She had to reteach ehrself how to do a few things, but it had been worth it. She had also come across an amazing thing...
Skittles.
Scaleface had found a very large bag in the kitchen, and since there had been no name on it, she had assumed she could take it. But after eating over half of it, and not being used to eating sugar, she'd quickly gotten a sugar high.
Now she prtactically bounced into the living room, laughing at her state. She found it empty, and she jumped onto the back of the couch, her quick reflections and perfect balance keeping her upright. She walked the length and then jumped onto one of the cushions, landing in a crouch, bag of skittles held out like a weapon.
But her foot pressed down on the remote, and the TV turned on. Spooked, Scaleface shrieked, reverting to her lixard form, dropped the skittles, and subsequently broke the couch. her tail whipped out and destroyed a nightstand. As she toppled over, Scaleface turned back into her human state, and landed in the rubble, bouncing off of a cushion and landing on the floor.
She looked around, eyes wide; "Oops..." she said fearfully, looking around.

"Woah, and we weren't even attacked." Hannah said, looking around nonchalantly. This was a new member to the Institute, and she had just heard about her from a couple of chatty teenage girls. She smiled gently at the spooked girl. "Hey, welcome to Xavier's, where ya from?" Hannah thought the girl looked familiar from somewhere, but she couldn't remember where.

Scaleface jumped up, her barefeet barely missing a piece of wood from the nightstand. She stepped out of the mess gingerly, then looked up at Hannah.
"I..." she started; "I'm so sorry about this! I just, turned on the TV andyeahIdidn'tmeanto--!" she stopped herself, closing her eyes and taking in a breath.
"Sorry, sugar," she said with an uneasy laugh; "I'm from around here. Just got here a couple days ago, though... I'm Scaleface, by the way. Who're you?"

"No worries." Hannah shrugged. "This kind of thing actually happens all the time with some many kids running around. At least you didn't knock down the wall." Hannah lightly waved her hand, shooting out electricity. The energy swept the mess against the wall, so it was less of a hazard.
Vanishing the lightning, Hannah smiled kindly. "Name's Nightshadow, or Hannah, which ever one you prefer." Suddenly recognition clicked on in Hannah's mind. "I thought you looked familiar. Added with the fact that Skittles got you high on sugar, well, anyway. You're from the Morlocks aren't you? I remember Ray mentioning you."

"Yeah," Scaleface said, nodding as she went and picked up the bag of skittles, or what was left of it. There was still a handful or two of skittles in it, but suddenly she wasn't hungry. She was a little unnerved that she knew so much, even if it wasn't that much to begin with. But Scaleface figured Ray had just run his mouth, and she let it slide.
"Gotta say, it's been a big change," she said with another uneasy laugh; "But... I had to know what was up here..." She gave the room a quick look around, looking at the debris Hannah had moved.
"That's a cool power..." Scaleface mused.

"That's just a small part of my power." Hannah said, smiling. "So, curiosity is all that brought you Topside? What do you think of our cozy mansion so far?" Hannah had had encounters with the Morlocks a couple of times, and, luckily, they didn't see her as an enemy. Although, they didn't exactly see her as a friend either. She was just an ally, as was most of the Institute's occupants.

"Not all curiosity," Scaleface said quietly, looking down for a moment, her hold on the skittles bag tightening slightly. She looked up though at Hannah's second question; "I dunno what to think of this place yet," she said, looking around at the high walls. It all seemed over-done. Awe inspiring, sure, and a show of just what money could buy. And it was all needed, the space, everything, but still...
"It's a nice place, though," she finally said, looking at Hannah; "How long you bin here?"

"I've been here eight years." Hannah said nonchalantly, glancing around the living room. She had actually been asked that question many times by new arrivals and other people. "Ever since I turned ten and my powers were forced to manifest."

"There were a couple of people here before me. Cyke, Jean, Ororo, Nightcrawler. But, yeah, I was one of the first ones here. But, you know, it was cool. I had a bunch of teammates, they were older and they took care of me. I'm glad I came here, basically. Best thing I've ever done beside have my kids." Hannah said, musingly.

At that, Scaleface's eyes widened; "You got kids?" she asked quietly, a little shocked. Hannah looked so young...

"Yes." Hannah smiled gently. She also got that surprised reaction a lot at the mention of her three month old girls. The responsibility of having kids and taking care of them mostly by herself with the help of her sister, Emmy and Amara was taking a toll on her. "Twin girls, Kristin and Lena. One's a pyro, the other has my electric power."

"At least you stickin' with 'em," Scaleface mumbled, scuffing her foot against the carpet. She looked up; "Bet there a handful. Thur was a kid with us for a while, he was a handful..." her voice trailed off; "But sewers ain't a place for a little kid. This place though, it's a good place."

"Thier father hasn't been around much as of late, but they're good girls most of the time. That is, when they aren't electrocuting things or setting random objects on fire. Otherwise, they make it easier for me." Hannah said. "My little sister's looking after them right now, giving me a break for a couple of hours."

"Oh," Scaleface said with a nod, her grey eyes darkening as she brushed her hair out of her face. Now that it wasn't matted and knotted and tangled, it was slick and loose, and she had a hard time dealing with it. She looked at Hannah.
"Who's there dad?" she asked. "If you don't mind me askin'."

"My 'boyfriend', a guy named Fritz. He's been disappearing lately. No idea where he's going." Hannah smiled half-heartedly, thinking once more of her mysterious boyfriend. "He's got this wolf thing going on. I just wish he would spend more time with the girls. It doesn't matter that he doesn't spend time with me, but to not spend time with the kids..." She trailed off.

"He knows, but I don't know, he just doesn't seem to really care about it." Hannah tried to shrug it off. "It doesn't matter. I get along just fine when he isn't there."

Scaleface eyed Hannah, but chose to say nothing on the matter; "So..." she said, looking around; "What we gonna do about the couch? Am I gonna get in trouble or something?"

"Nah, we're just replace it or fix it. Like I said before, it's no big deal. This kind of wreckage happens all the time, especially with my sister being a pyro and setting things on fire." Hannah told her, looking at the couch. "How'd it end up like that anyway?"
