He gave a forceably cheesy smile. "Well, I do what I can, ma'am." Huntin stood up slowly, walking over to the lake idly. "Any fish in here? I love fish. Especially the really colorful ones..." He looked back at Iris on the ground. "You look so pretty right now. I mean like you aren't ugly other times or anything, but you look really pretty." He smiled softly and looked back out at the water.

Iris blushed deeply and felt moved, "Thank you Huntin," she said quietly and got up herself and hobbled over to where Huntin was looking into the water, "I'm not sure about the fish, perhaps you should look yourself," she said kissing Huntin on the cheek, as a thanks for being so kind, then bumping him into the shallows of the lake with her hip.

After the kiss on the cheek Huntin was as flimsy as a daisy. The little mere bump of Iris's hip sent him down ass-first into the water. He kind of turned as he fell and landed square on his butt, then falling back from the bit of shock. His face was about an inch under water, and a few little fish swam over his face. He sat up slowly, shaking his head quickly to shake off the water. From knee to head he was soaked, but he just sat in the water, looking up at Iris with play-anger. "You're lucky you're on crutches, girl." The kiss on his cheek was like a thousand needles of joy stinging him, and he liked it.

Iris chuckled then started full out laugh and had to sit down on the ground, "Well Huntin I do have to admit that your the best looking thing in the water now," she said looking at him and giggle, yes actually giggling, which she tried to contain by covering her mouth with her hand.

"Yes, my seaweed complexion is best accentuated when wet." He splashed a bit of water of Iris, sticking his green tongue out. "Don't cover your mouth, you look even better when you laugh."

Iris blushed even more and quickly move her feet and skirt out of the way of the splashing water, and stick her own tongue out at Huntin, perhaps the most childish thing she had done since she was a child, then she looked serious again and offered her hand to Huntin, "Thank you for making me laugh, it has been a while since I've laugh so much," she said and smiled at Huntin and looked him in the eyes.

Huntin took her hand gently and slowly got up, his eyes meeting hers. He bit his lip for a moment. "Um, well, glad I can do that for you." He still had her hand in his gently, his thumb gently stroking the back of her hand. He wanted to so bad....but he knew how not fun it was to be surprised. "C.....Iris...can I kiss you?" May as well ask to save any trouble.

Iris blushed even more and looked away, 'But Huntin, that isn't proper," Iris said quietly, but her hand still held by Huntin's, "It's not that I don't want to, it just doesn't feel right at this moment."

Huntin nodded slowly. "That's fine..." he muttered. "Just like...didn't wanna sneak it on you and regret it, you know?" He smiled softly and still held her hand, looking back up at the sky. "Real pretty...."

'Thank you Huntin," Iris said and leaned over and kissed his cheek, a mere peck, but that was all she was comfortable with, 'You are a good friend," she added and looking up at the sky with Huntin.

"Do um..." he mumbled a little before speaking up, looking back to Iris with a serious yet still kind face. "Do you think that anything between us could ever actually happen?"

"I wouldn't have a clue," Iris said and looked down at the ground, "I'm not really and expert on relationships. Besides Huntin, you can do so much better then me," she whispered and looked away back at the mansion. Suddenly her thoughts were on Chase, but why in the world was she thinking of Chase when Huntin was right beside her. Iris shook her head, 'Your heart would break if you were with me Huntin, you need a woman who will stay with you, I couldn't garantee that with me taking care of the Institute and being a Guardian. You'd be alone, and I couldn't bare putting you through that."

Huntin slowly dropped her hand, knowing, just knowing, that he wasn't what she needed either. "That's cool." He said it as quickly as possible so his voice wouldn't crack. "Besides, what we got is great. Friendship." His heart was kind of turning crackly and flakey as he spoke, his eyes falling on the ground near the Mansion. He was too much of a kid for a woman like Iris, anyway.

"Huntin?" Iris asked looking at him and studying his face her own face growing sad as well, "Oh Huntin don't feel this way," she said wrapping her arms around him, "I'm sorry, it's just I'm a horrible person, and you deserve better then me" she said and held Huntin close to her trying hard not to cry.

No, it's not you, it's me. Wow. He never thought he'd hear anything like that. "Hey hey," he said softly. "Shhh it's okay, trust me. I'd rather this than weeks of being toyed with, you know?" He wrapped his arms around her waist and hugged her. "I totally understand. You have huge responsibilities, and I really don't want to add any more complexity to your life. So really, this is better for both of us." He smiled softly and brushed some hair out of her face. "Don't worry, you're not the first to say no and I'll bet you won't be the last." He was keeping his happy mask up as best as he could.

Iris wept into Huntin's shoulder, "But I feel as if I have played you. But if things were different, then maybe there could be something between us. Maybe even love, but neither of us is strong enough to go through the burdens I go through. And I could never ask you to live the life of a Guardian's love. It wouldn't be fair, but I do like you Huntin, and you're the best friend I've ever had."

"No no, you haven't done anything like that. All you've done is be a wonderful friend and guide. You've taught me about other dimensions and stuff, and you've helped get me out of my shell with Artemis too." Huntin gently pushed some of her hair behind her ears. "You're probably the best friend I've had too, Iris...I mean it...I just don't want to see you so hurt and upset all the time. You're too pretty when you smile to hurt all the time. And besides, who else would touch a frog like me?" He chuckled extremely softly, trying to lighten the mood if he could at all.

"Huntin," Iris said looking up at him and touching his face, "You're not a frog, you never were and never will be. You'll find someone, if I have to go and handpick a girl throw a spell on her and bring her back, you'll have someone," she said looking into Huntin's eyes still touching his face with her small slim hand.

He smirked softly. "If you had to go and do that...then it would kind of defeat the purpose I think...better to have no one than someone against their will, you know?" Huntin took a step back, so Iris wouldn't topple over, his arms dropping from around her waist. "I think I'm gonna go get something to eat. Want me to drop you off somewhere?"

"No I'll manage," Iris said clearing the tears from her eyes with her sleeve. Then suddenly her hands began shaping into different signs and her reached out and touched Huntin's forehead with her thumb, "I cast a spell for you to someday find happiness," she said before leaning foreward and kissing Huntin's forehead activating the spell, 'I'll see you later Huntin," she said picking up her crutched and hobbling her way back to the mansion.
