As Marie pulled away, Vendetterous put a hand on her shoulder, "be careful, there is always another day to fight."
Vendetterous turned to move off again, he had a big coup planed now that the mutants had come after him. Marie may have exhibited qualities of a mutant, but to Vendetterous she was like himself, the best of humanity. To him, she was still human and not a mutant.
"I am sure you will be able to find me." and Vendetterous was off, cutting through an alleyway and around a bend then diving into a sewer grate. Not the best place to be, but the wolverine would have a great deal of difficulty following him down there. Vendetterous knew what he was going to do, but his thoughts kept returning to the girl Marie.

Marie nodded as Vendetterous disappeared around a corner. Then she turned to look back at her cloud and managed to hide in it just as Wolverine came running out with Mystique in tow. She watched them invisibly as they gained their bearings, then took off in the direction Vendetterous had gone. She hoped he had enough time to escape.
Marie walked slowly back into the buildings of Hell's Kitchen, darknening the path before her. Once she was safely inside and hidden, she withdrew her darkness from the street. It was now as clear as day, the sun shining brightly down on the confused mutants below. She wasn't sure how she could do that, but somehow it seemed to drain her to draw it back in. However, there could be no rest, not now. Her mother needed to be buried and her father rushed to any hospital that would accept sapians. Maybe they would accept a 'sap if a mutant checked them in. Tears dribbled down her face and fell on her parents as she bent over them. Stupid mutants, stupid Red Guard, and stupid House of M! She tried to think of who she had left in the world if her father didn't survive. The only name she could come up with was Noel... that, and possibly her new ally Vendetterous. Could three people topple and empire supported by the world? As she dragged her mother's bodies out of Hell's Kitchen and into a dilapidated graveyard behind, she started to plan. As she shovled the last scoop full of earth over her mother's body, she decided to find Noel. But first, her father. Marching up the stairs back to their one-roomed house, she struggled to lift him in her arms. Darkness surged out of her and seemed to give her strength. She carried him out of the house, surrounded by her own fog.

The darkness lifted and Jasmine looked around. The only people left around were her adn Pain. She pulled him to the side of the street. She pushed him against the building. "What the hell happened to that girl."
Pain smiled and started to laugh. The girl's pain had given him strength. "Her parents got questioned, and I believe you blew my cover." He laughed louder. "What are you doing in sap area. You shouldn't be here."
Jasmine avoided his question. She turned away from him and started to walk away. Then she turned and looked Pain straight in the eyes. "Zakk, that girl is a new mutant and her parents are probably dead. I'm gonna go get our new sister." She disappeared and reappeared in on old graveyard. She noticed a new grave and realized it was probably the girl's parent. She ran through the streets trying to find the girl.

Vendetterous dove into the sewer, grabbing a repirator he had stowed and put it on. He knew that the wolverine was on him, he could hear him. Vendetterous grabbed a large knife made of the same adamantium of the wolverine. He could hear that the wolverine had entered the sewer. Maybe he would lose Vendetterous, maybe not. Vendetterous was not going to take chances. He went down to a blind corner and ducked around it, diving sleekly into the water. He made little sound, and swam across the T section to the other side. The respirator was well engineered, it actually filtered out breathable air from the sewage water.
He lay in wait, waiting for the proper moment, Vendetterous would have to strike fast, but he could take out one maybe a second, but Vendetterous did not know for sure.

Marie strode down the street, a cloud of darkness folowing her in one large pillar. Other sapians stared at her, most with fear in their eyes. She wondered what she must look like, a mutant girl walking down the street with a immense darkness behind her and the body of a sapian in her arms. She did not yet know about her eyes. Turning a corner on a street that would lead to a hospital, she saw that mutant girl running down the last street after her. She gave a scowl and kept walking. Could she use her new-found powers enough to get away again?

Jasmine noticed the girl carrying an body. Instead of risking losing the girl she kept on running and disappeared. She reappeared in front of the girl, her eyes glowing. "Please stop, I can help you." She glanced down at the man in her arms and noticed he was in really bad shape, what had Rogue done?

"I've had enough help so far," hissed Marie. "Hell's Kitchen would do better without mutants like you. All about our submission until suddenly I get powers? Am I part of your elite brotherhood now? One little twist in the genes can change our whole lives, turn us from losers into winners. Well, I don't want your help, now get outta my way. My dad here had some help too, and that's sending him straight to the hospital." Without waiting for the woman to move, she started to walk around her. Her anger and darkness lent fuel to her muscles and she continued with a greater strength than she had ever had before.

Jasmine walked backwards. "i don't wanna help you because you're a mutant." She kept some distance between her and a girl. "I wanna help you because I hate the situation as much as you."

the wolverine and his compatriot stopped right infront of Vendetterous, the wolverine had lost his scent. Vendetterous began to raise his head up out of the sewage, and looked upon those who were hunting him. He gripped the knife tightly, but waited, there was a good chance they would leave, and that Vendetterous could wait until a time when he would have a better chance at winning.
He waited.

"Cute, mutie," Marie snapped. "You know the man who I was talking to before this all started, which means that you two did a little play-acting in front of me. So what are the chances that he is actually a mutant and actually the one who hurt all the people in there? And you are running around with him, so what makes me believe you at all? Get lost!" Marie stalked up the steps of a rather ramshackle hospital. Sapians on the stairs gave her frightened looks: her eyes were flaming, her countenence enraged, and she was carrying a body in her arms. "Outta my way!" she growled, using her shoulder to push the front door open and then walk through.

Jasmine ran after Marie. Her eyes were glowing now, the Sapains around her gave her frightened looks also. She tried to reach the girl. "Okay, I do know that man. But when I hit him I was trying to seriously him." She transported to infront of the girl. " I really do want to help. I would never hurt a Sapian on purpose. I DO NOT agree with this life. I only put on a facade to stay informed."

Caitlyn Currie slammed her book angrily down on the table. The sound of "Advanced Darwinian Theory" crashing against the wood echoed about her small dorm room, rousing her room mate.
"I can't believe it!" She yelled. She hated the Institute...everything about it. Her standard yellow and white uniform was itching and her mind was practically overflowing with pro-mutant bologna that had been imprinted by the Alpha level telepaths...not like she needed memories to be imprinted anyway.
"They said I cheated on my Midterm!" Caity yelled, angrily ripping off her name tag. The word "Syphon" stared daggers at her. "It's not my fault that I can siphon thoughts from others! And it's not my fault that Mindwarp sits next to me!" Caity was flustered and angry. With a huff she collapsed onto her bed, all the while under the watchful eye of her calm roommate.
"Besides...this place sucks anyway. Just because I'm a level 4 telepath...D-Grade, and you can't even fly..."
But she was cut off. "Hey." Her roommate spoke with a sharp edge, an aire of coolness caught in her intonation. She shifted position and dropped from her perch on the window seat, landing nicely on the floor. Her giant blue and black feathered wings folded around her, framing her in a sort of unearthly glow.
Her name was Taylor Angeline Shumont. Born and raised in Chicago Illinois she realized she was a mutant when she was 13, at around the same time she "became a woman." At first it had started with her eyes, changing from bright blue to a dark yellow. Next, her hair changed. It evolved from a deep black to a strange electric blue, streaked with feathers. Finally, her wings sprouted, growing from her shoulder blades her wings were an object of beauty and mystery, as were the feathers traveled down her back and arms.
Taylor shivered, she retracted her talons back into her hands and gave Caity a fake smile. Normally she was able to ignore her fiery roommate, but now, things were getting personal.
"That's what they do around here. They say that all mutants are better then humans, that we're the "superior race." But then, once we're here, they weed out the best of the best, and stick the rest in tiny rooms with people like you." Taylor smiled a cold, emotionless glare, and Caity smiled the same back. Her ability to copy your everymove, even though on accident, still kept Taylor on her guard.
"But," she started, her yellow eyes watching Caity, expecting her to strike, "once I learn how to make these wings work...once I learn how to fly, I'm out of here, and I'm moving up to a suite on the 6th floor with your little friend Mindwarp."
"Whatever, think what you want Taylor, but I know you can't fly. I can read everything your thinking as easily as I can read this book," she motioned to her copy of Advanced Darwinian Theory. "Face it honey, we're stuck her on the ground floor, in this small room, you and me...till death do us part."
Meanwhile, in New York City:
Eric James watched the world move past him from the sidelines. He sat, cramped in his tiny apartment, gazing out the window, waiting for the Red Guard to turn down the next block. His dad was sleeping and his mom was at work, and so for now the house was quiet. As he watched people fly by, or skate by on tracks of ice, he silently wished that he was a mutant. Maybe then he could escape this small hole in the wall and see the world. It would only take a tiny change, a small alteration in his DNA, and then the world would be his.
((I didn't read all that happened....wow Midnight you're amazing and you write so much...so I'm just throwing myself in here. Can you guys fill me in as I go along?))

The two had their backs turned, the wolverine was getting a transmission from someone telling him not to let me go, to comb the sewers until Vendetterous was found.
Vendetterous rose up slowly so as to make little noise. He raised the knife high, and just as the wolverine began to sense his presence, he brought the knife down. the wolverine had turned to see it, but had not moved quickly enough to completly avoid the knife. It came down slashing hsi chest, not exactly what Vendetterous had wanted. He had been aiming to leave it embedded in the wolverine's chest, leaving him out of commission as Vendetterous made his escape. He knew that the wolverine had a remarkable healing property, much better than his own and that it would be near impossible to kill him.
Vendetterous reached forewards with his left hand as the wolverine extended his claws to strike. The three blades went right through Vendetterous' hand, but his blade was plunged down into the soft spot on the shoulder between the collar bone and the shoulder blade. Vendetterous kicked the wolverine off of him and threw a flash device at the wall, it was stick and encased in a softer material so it would stick to the wall without bouncing off. Vendetterous tore off after than, ducking around the first bend and climbing up out through a man hole.

((Woohoo, Mike! It's basically just House of M... you've read those, haven't you? Meh, anyway there isn't that much to fill in. Marie's parents were "questioned" about the enhanced human terrorist, Vendetterous, leaving one dead and ticking her off so much that she got her powers, blinded the Red Guard, and headed off toward the hospital with her surviving parent. And no one calls me amazing, makes me feel happy ![:)](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/smiley.png) )) "Get away!" Marie yelled, her eyes like an inferno as she brought a fist to slam it into the woman's belly. Then she turned before she even saw the outcome and strode into the hospital. Frightened people ran and the receptionist hid behind the desk until Marie reached it. "I need help," she said, her voice like ice. "He's a sapian... and he's hurt..." her voice broke as she said this, and a lone tear slid down her cheek. "Please help him..." The receptionist nodded, speechless, and motioned to a burly man in white to come help her with Marie's father. Together, they carried him into a room as a doctor hurried along beside them, checking Marcus Adams. Marie turned away and walked quietly out of the hospital. Darkness flooded to her and the pillar that had accompanied her now collapsed and disappeared as she stalked down the steps. Near the bottom, she started to stagger along the little dirty street to finally collapse in front of another cramped apartment building. The effort of drawing in the darkness, the loss of the additional strength, the mutation process, and the stress of everything that had happened finally got to her. Her red eyes closed and her mind drifted away... ..... Noel Rich knocked softly on the door to the small room where she had heard the shouting. The Institute was prestigeous and harbored great leaders-in-training, but even those were separated. Although no one said it, the mutants that weren't as useful or fully evolved or as smart as they should be were kept down here. In this room lived Caity and Taylor, two girls who seemed to be at odds. Noel wondered faintly why the instructors didn't pay more attention to room assignments and complete incompatability, then she remembered that all their greatest students were had their own rooms on higher floors.

The punch conected and Jasmine fell to jer knees gasping for air. She stood up trying to catch her breath. She turned to a nurse. "Where did she go?" She pointed a shakig finger out the door. Jasmine ran out and searched the streets. She found Marie passed out. She kneeled by her side . "Oh crap."

((House of M, awesome idea! But yeah it's good to be back!! And Midnight...your VERY amazing! By the way, Midnight just happens to be in front of Chance's apartment...what are the odds? Hint hint...))
Eric's eyes shot up as a teenage girl fell to the sidewalk in front of his window. He was so started to see her that he was immedietly snapped out of his day dreams. From his window seat he was able to see her long dark hair countered by her smooth white skin...but then he saw her eyes. They were bright red with black pupils. For some reason Eric felt himself entranced by her eyes...he found her beautiful.
*at the Institute* Taylor was about to retaliate with an ice-cold comment but Syphon immedietly stopped talking. The way she stared at the door caused Taylor to turn and stare too. "What?" She asked, her black and blue feathered wings brushing lightly against her pale skin.
"I'm picking up someone on the other side," Caity whispered. "It might be an administrator...I hope they didn't hear us." Caity silently cursed under her breath. The last thing she needed now (since she was accussed of telepathically cheating on all her exams) was another reason to be in trouble.
"Your the telepath," Taylor joked, her voice calm and collected, as if she meant to mock her roommate. "Figure out who it is."
Caity raised an eyebrow as if to say "watch it," but still she tried focusing her mind to penetrate the wood of the door. Finally she felt stray thoughts entering her mind. "It's a student," she said. "I mean, unless the administraots are worring about Midterm grades."
"Let's see then, shall we," Taylor shifted her wings and folded them onto her back. Then, she twisted the doorknob and pulled it open.

Vendetterous had hauled himself up out of the sewer grate, and was about to finish climbing out when a hand shot up and grabbed his ankle. Vendetterous looked down and saw the wolverine trying to drag him back down into the sewer. By now a few of the red gaurd had shown up on this street, and Vendetterous almost preferred to be back in the sewers with the wolverine. However, a more open confrontation would spark anti establishment sensabilities in some of the less loyal mutants.
Vendetterous reached down and grabbed the wolverine's wrist, prying him off of his leg. He climbed out of the sewer grate and looked down at Wolverine and his companion as more of the red gaurd gathered in the street. Vendetterous took off the shirts he was wearing, they would only hinder his movements being soaked in sewage. He looked about and backed away from the culvert as the wolverine began to climb back out of it.
"I will not go so easily as my brothers, I am the first." He grew prepared for a fight, he had little chance of winning. A man had to take a stance some where, draw his line in the sand. Vendetterous' line was here, his battle was now, but he was not sure if he would survive. To him it was sad that one man could cause so much trouble and draw so much attention from the ruling order. Magneto was scared of him, because he represented the will to survive, the will to not be snuffed out in a single stroke.
Vendetterous prepared, though he was now surrounded on three sides and most of the humans had slipped away from the impending battle. Some of the respected him, some of them hated him, but none of them was so foolish as to stand with him against the face of the opressor.

Midnight lay there, her breathing light and her countenence peaceful.
.......
"Oh... excuse me," Noel said apologetically as she viewed the faces of those inside the room. They were tense and almost frightened. Noel ducked her head and brought it back up with a smile. Her slitted serpant eyes blinked slowly. That always unnerved people. Because of her snake eyes, she did not blink very much and other people's eyes would start to hurt just watching her.
"I heard you fighting," she began. "You are supposed to be some of the future leaders of tomorrow. And Caity, I am sorry to hear that they accused you of cheating on your test. David Alleyane is one of their star pupils and he gets by with his knowledge siphoning, so they really aren't being fair..." She twirled her black hair with one dark hand, and then perked up like she remembered why she was there. "Oh yeah, there is a Hellion, you know the junior SHIELD department, here to speak with you, Caity. His call name is 'Sync' I believe."
((Sync has kinda the same power as Caity... and yes he is in the house of M series))

Jasmine looked around when she heard voices and feet running. It was the Red Guard. She looked back up at the Sapien in the window she mouthed "Don't tell them anything" She gathered Marie up in here arms and disappeared. Seconds later Red Guards streamed into the street.
Jasmine appeared in her apartment. She walked over to her bookcase and using a lever which was activated by her power she entered a secret room. She laid Marie down on the bed and pulled a blanket around her. She glanced at teh girl and sighed. No one should have to go through what she had just been through. She walked out of the room and the bookcase swung shut.
