"Come on Amelia, we can't be the lasts ones, we just can't!" Iada said taking her friend's arm and they began walking through the city, occasionally Amelia would scout ahead with her mind or Iada would port to a higher point to look out.

Sean "Shrapnel" Cullen finally saw daylight. He had been digging under rock and fallen debris from tattered buildings for almost a day now, looking for survivors. He didn't mind following orders, but when they involved helping people, he always seemed to get a burr up his shorts.
"Nothing here," he said into his walky-talky. Most of the advanced communications technology his group had was lost. The old-style communications devices they had now where only found after digging through what once was a RadioShack.
A sigh came through the other end, "Understood, finish that block then come back to the shed."
Sean's military training took hold, "Roger that, Shrapnel Out."

"I'm sensing someone nearby, do you want to scout ahead and see who it is?" Amelia asked Iada who nodded and diappeared.
"Bamf," Iada appeared ontop of a half broken display case, "Hey," she said to the guy that was digging around.

Sean whirled about, and extended the two foot blade that was hidden under the skin of his arm. Once he realized the girl was no immediate threat, he lowered his arm, "Don't sneak up on people like that," he scolded.

"Well I'm a porter what do you expect," Iada said picking up a remote and playing around with one of the remaining remote control cars. She watched it go over rubble and mildly looked up as Amelia entered the scene.
"Oooh," Amelia said looking disappointed, "Hello, we're looking for survivors to take back to a safehouse," she said.

Sean nodded, "Well, you're in luck. I'm a survivor. It would also happen I know where three more are right now."

"Hey cool," Iada said looking up and porting onto Shrapnel's shoulder, "We're actually looking for some people, some friends of ours, so let's stick together, you know in case of rats. Oooo those things are creepy!"

"Well, in case you haven't noticed," he said, hardly budgins as she came to a rest on his shoulder, "People aren't easy to come by nowadays. Who were you looking for?"

"A guy named Christian," Amelia said, "Around thirty, red hair," she said.
"He has the overall, save everyone and be the hero complex," Iada said rolling her eyes, "Come one we'd better get going before she starts pining for him."

Sean's eyes narrowed, "I know that guy," he said cryptically, before turning on his radio again, "Hey boss, Shrapnel. We have friends here of the James kid. Should I bring them in?"
The other voice hesitated, "Go ahead... we'll tell them in person."

Amelia felt her hands ball up into fists, "Tell us what?" she asked her voice sounding small and afraid.

((We need some bad guy in this thing, and Achmed's the man!))
On the other side of the city, Achmed opened his eyes. He didn't care about survivors. He had trouble enough right now.
He couldn't remember anything about 'D-day', as he called it, except a white flash. When he waked up, he had been half buried under a pile of rubble. But he hadn't digged himself out. He had to use his powers to stop his bleeding first, and even then, he had been too tired. A while later, he could finally stand up and walk away.
Now, months later, had was fully recovered from his wounds. But he was getting pretty bored. At the start, he had found a chess board and had entertained himself, but now even chess was boring. There wasn't much food left either. He sighed stood up and continued with his attempt to survive.

Sean turned off the radio, and shoved it into his pocket, "It's better left to the bigwigs," he said, a bit irritated. Sean wasn't the type to help people in need, he was a warrior through and through, "Suffice it to say, the doctor did all he could..."

"What?!" Amelia said her mouth dropping open.
"Dude, Melia, come on if he's still alive Ican try and heal him, but that's if he's still alive, let's go!" Iada said tugging on her friend's hand.

Sean nodded his head, motioning for the two girls to follow him, as he headed westbound down a ruined street, "We found him under a few tons of rubble and debris," he said, "bones busted up, face all bloody, not a pretty sight. I hope you have pictures of what he looked like before, cause he was not a pretty sight."

Amelia resisted the urge to cry. She hadn't even remembered why Christian had went out that morning but she wished he had stayed with her. If only Iada had inherited her mother's healing ability then maybe Amelia would feel more comforted.
"It'll be alright, Christian's strong," Iada said patting her friend's shoulder.

Jasmine and Pain followed Wisdom towards the safe house. Pain was carrying the boy over his shoulder. "So, how far until the safehouse?" Jasmine asked the two. in general."

Sean smiled cruelly, "You sure are optimistic," he smirked, "I've seen some unbelievable things, but I gotta say, your darling X-Man still breathing is one of the ones that shocks me."

"He has the will of an rhino," Iada shrugged porting next to Shrapnel to keep up, "So how did you survive the apocalypse?"

Sean made a grunting noise which signaled his discontent, "I don't even knoe what happened. All I remember was my current employer picking my ass out of a pile of smoldering rubble, and patching me up. I don't even know how he survived it."
