Ellen bursted into tears, unable to keep her emotions in check she threw herself into Cole's arms sobbing gainst his chest.
"Just wait for it," Amelia whispered into Christian's ear.

"Hell," Christian said, smiling, "I know what he's doing, and I wanna see him get hit."
"Whatsamatter," Cole grinned, "I figured you'd be happy to see me, but hot damn, this is better than I thought!"

Suddenly anger hit Ellen, she hated being lied to, "Why was I told that you were dead?" she asked her voice dangerously low as she poked Cole's chest.

Cole laughed, "Dead!? Who said I was dead?" He looked at Christian, "Dumb ass, way to exaggerate!"
"Hey," Christian shrugged, "You said to tell her you were gone. I figured it'd be more entertaining this way!"

Ellen's eyes narrowed and she glared at Cole and Christian, "What are you two talking about I want an explination," she said her face begining to turn red with anger.

"Ellen, sweety," Cole said, playing with her hair, "i have a riddle for you: what's something every woman wants thats perfect, unforgettable, and surprising?"

Ellen was grinding her teeth, "A former lover whose buried to his neck in dirt and fire ants?" she replied.

Cole smiled. It was just like old times, "No."
He ripped the ring/necklace from her, and examined it, "A perfect proposal."
He got down on one knee, "Listen, I know it isn't the best place, and I know I'm not the best choice, but I know that I've been head over heels for you since the first time you decked me.
"I let you leave once already, and you married someone else. That didn't work for you as well as it did for me. So I'm not saying we run off tonight, and I'm not saying I'm the best man for the job: But I would like to know if you'd marry me."

"You jerk, you unutterable inconsiderate bastard," She yelled knocking the ring from his hand and pushing him to the ground, "I can't believe you would ask something like that after the emotional rollar coaster you put me through!" she screamed before punching and kicking him once and storming out of the clib. A soon as she hit the cool night air she threw the car keys as far as she could into the sky and then jumped into the air and flew back to the mansion.

Christian walked up to Cole and helped him up, "Congratulations, champ."
"You told her I was dead," Cole seethed, "I told you to tell her I was somewhere alone! I wanted her to want me here, not visit the cemetary!"
Kevin approached them, "Cole!? What the hell!? How are you breathing!? Did she hurt you!?"
He shook his head, turning towards the door, "Hell, I almost liked her hitting me," he said, "Let me find my girl!" He lifted himself into the air, and followed Ellen, trying think of what he'd say to make her believe he was still in love with her.

Ellen was lucky, most of her firends couldn't fly, which ment when she wanted to be alone she flew to the top of the bell tower and let her mind wander.
A breeze ran through her hair as she glazed up at the stars and began, mentally, pointing out the different constellations. She'd missed these little things she had done with her twins. But she really missed their warm, wiggling bodies scooting up next to her to listen what she was saying.
They had always treated her like she was some vast mind of knowledge, and they always wanted to know the answers to everything, and for that Ellen loved them for it. But she knew they were better off with her ex-husband, he was more responsable, lived in one place, and wasn't a mutants. But it still broke her heart.
"I was a cruel thing you did Christian," Amelia said quietly.

Christian looked at her, "I know. But sometimes love needs a gamut to run." He looked to her, and started walking away. This had been a mistake, "I of all people know that."
Cole followed as best he could, but wasn't as adept at flying as others he knew. But it wasn't hard to see Ellen take refuge on top of the school. He came in close, but didn't land. She needed space.
"I know you're mad, El," he said sympathetically, "You have right to be, and I won't fault you for running. But I ran before, and you took off the other way. It broke my heart to learn you married someone else.
"I had to go through years of wondering what I let go. I never want to make that mistake again!"
He floated in front of her, and looked into her eyes, "I don't want to not have you with me anymore!"

"You've changed Christian, I remember that you were always there for your friends, that you would gladly show some kindness to them," Amelia said finally giving away how much she knew, "I can't believe I came back for you."
"Cole our days are over," Ellen said darkly, "I moved on with my life and it's time that you did too."

Christian stopped breathing for a moment, but it seemed like forever.
"...What?"
He turned towards Amelia, "What did you just say?"
"No," Cole said, shaking his head, "I don't believe that for a second. I'm not willing to walk away again, and if I have to argue with me until I drop dead, then dammit, I'll do it. You can't make me leave you again."

"I said you're not the same man I feel in love with," Amelia said placing her hands on her hips and giving him the same annoyed looks she use to give him when she had gone back into the past, "A real jerk in fact."
"Cole why can't you just take a hint, maybe figure something out without me having to tell you?" Ellen spat, "You've always wanted me knowing that everyday that I spent around you killed me off a little more inside. You've broken my heart too many times before and I wouldn't let it happen again. Let alone drag my children into it also."

"And I don't want it to happen again! I've made a decision without you, and it involves you, Ellen. I want your kids to hang around with me, and I want you to be there too! I don't have to be their father, but I'd love to raise them with you! Why can't you see that I'm serious about this?"
Christian stared at her, not sure if the heat he felt at the moment was from a loving memory, or a current anger, "So, you've been lying to me all this time? You knew who I was, and didn't say anything!? What kinda love is that!?"
He stopped and looked at thew ground, then back to her, "Trust me, Cole will find a way to get through to Ellen, despite my exageration of the means. But what about you? What about me, about us? Why are you here? Why didn't you tell me?"

"Because how many times before have you told me your were serious? How many times did you say you wanted to be in my life and suddenly take off the first obstical that came in you way?" Ellen asked looking into Cole's eyes with her own steely ones.
"When I came of age of my magic all possible alter versions of me were combined into one," Amelia said rolling here eyes and throwing up her arms, "Yes, I'm your Amelia, yes I didn't tell the truth, because I was afraid. Afraid of the darkness I sensed in your mind."

Christian dropped his stare, "That darkness only exists because of you, Amelia," he lamented, "It was so hard for me to go on living when you left me back then.
"I couldn't get over you, and I didn't want to fall in love with anyone else, so I buried my feelings until they overflowed."
He grabbed her hand, "Please. Please Amelia, if your here, I beg you, don't leave again."
"Twice," Cole said, "Once when Amelia left Christian, because I was afraid of falling in the same hole he did. And again when I heard you were with someone else. I tried to do this then, and I was too stubborn to make you realize how real I felt about you."
He landed on the rooftop and stood in front of her, "I'll admit, I've made mistakes before. But I'm older now, I'm not as stupid as you think I am. I'm ready to do whatever it takes to be with you for the rest of my life."

"I think," Ellen began but stopped as her cellphone began ringing, she answered it, "Hello? Oh hey Paul what's up? Uh huh, wait it's tommorrow? No, no I didn't forget, yeah I'll be there. I know they're looking forward to it. You want me to bring him? Fine I will."

Coles eyes narrowed, ask if to ask what she was talking about, but he remained silent.
